Time for a new build, this is the armed launch from Panart, I did the box review a while back - http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=12404
So, without further ceremony, here is the build  I managed to get the frames glued, the central section that is fitted along the length of the boat is removed later in the build, as are the upper frame halves. This is a triple planked kit, so the first layer is darkwood for the inside, the second layer is basswood and is purely to keep the first layer together as it's not glued to the frames, then the final layer being the outside layer in darkwood again. I also got the frames fared, fairly quick as it's only frame 1 that needs doing along with the bow termination inserts. Thanks Jase, it's a new type of build for me - the 1st plank layer isnt glued to the frames from 2-7, so Im thinking of sticking some double sided tape over the upper half of the frames edges. The instructions say (as far as my Italian goes) to use wax on the edges to prevent the planks being glued to them but I dont want any glue on the planks inside. Will have a think Steve

Thanks for looking in Well, did some planking today, it's harder than I imagined keeping glue off the middle 5 frames. Like I said, the instruction seem to say to rub wax onto the frame edge to prevent the glue touching. My method here seems to work ok though. I am using double sided tape on the frame edge, this helps keep the plank in position all the way along. I then use pins lightly pushed in - I dont think the pinholes in the planks will be a problem as there are also internal ribs to go inside later which will hide these. I then clamp any mis-aligned planks and paint on pva in the cracks, avoiding anywhere near the frames. Working so far . Looks-wise, Im only concerned about the inside of this layer anyway. BTW, there is no need for a build jig with this kit - the temporary stiffener which keeps all the frames in place and at 90 degs to the false keel is also keeping everything else straight. This stays in place until all 3 layers are done. The instructions just say to check the false keel with a steel rule after the stiffener is tacked in to make sure it hasent forced any frames, warping the keel - all fine on this build though. Thanks for the comments and for looking in Just a small update on todays work, have now planked 7 rows each side. Once I get down past the frame snap off line in the pic below then it's planking as a normal 1st layer, ie - cant be seen from inside or out. Only above that line will be visible from the inside. Another thing Ive found is that you cannot leave gaps to fill later, all the planks have to go from bow to stern as there is no way to have a plank finish half way due to not being able to glue to the frames. The second pic below shows clearly where I havent painted on the pva in case it seeps through to the frames. My plan seems to be working though and painting the pva on is adding a lot of strength to the planks without showing on the inside at all More of the same tomorrow! stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Thanks for looking in guys Finished the 1st layer now. It's very fragile at the moment with the hull currently at less than 1mm thick after a gentle sand down. I have achieved the main objective though of creating a neat inside layer. You can see in the pics below where the planks have bowed out slightly where the double sided tape has become unstuck on some frames, this will just need to be re-pinned as I start the 2nd layer. I will continue with the second layer right away to add some strength to the sides. Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Lovely work Steve, I particularly liked your idea of using double-sided tape on the framework; it seems to have worked well. Look forward to seeing more.
