jonny7england wrote:Fantastic Alan!! And the detail of the figurehead is amazing!! It makes one wonder just how much work actually went into carving the original figurehead and how long it must have taken, let alone the cost?? Just mind blowin!! Thanks Jonny, have to agree with you, the figurehead with this kit has to be one of the most striking I have seen, I love it.... .. Thanks again.. Regards Alan

Work continues with the completion of issue 110 but before starting that I finished the 2 anchors supplied earlier... Issue 110 started with the painting and fitting of the 4 small cannons that sit between the statues on the bow... With the black relief, I found it easier to paint the black first then finish with the gold.. . Moved onto painting gold the 4 wooden bow platform and stern lantern decorations, fitted these in place... This issue provided 16 brass circular gun port rings to be fitted to the inside of the bulwarks... Each one has to be individually shaped with a fine file for each port and the fitting was found to be very tricky, mostly down to the uprights each side of the port restricting access.... Got there in the end though... Finished this part by painting gold the inside of each gun port... . Finally, made up the two gun port lids as before leaving a 1mm overhang of the sapelle along two sides and the bottom edge, these will be fitted as closed ports later, the last port on the lower deck towards the stern. .. Next issue I think is the painting and adding of yet more bling so until then, happy building all..... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Hi Alan. Looking tremendous mate as usual with your build. Love the anchors. Makes the mag instruction ones look amateurish against them. Like you say it's up to the modeller to build to their own desires as you have. Again a real pleasure to look in on your build to date. Regards George Building HMS SOTS
