Hi Alan.

Great work as usual and the myriad of decoration is really starting to make her look unique (and colourful)now. I've just finished the SOTS book, (been reading it a bit at a time in the Tesco's Costa cafe each shopping trip!(in between nicking the wooden sticks!)BigGrin ) It almost raises a tear at the end, such a rotten end for a ship with so much history! (Keep all candles away from yours!!)
I've had bits falling down the hatches too but so far they have remained at the bottom of the stairs and I managed to retrieve them back!Blink
With regards to that missing crown, if you have one still loose (or even 'get-offable') you could try pressing it down into a block of plasticine or clay and then mix up a small amount of epoxy glue and cocktail stick that into the mould. It should give you a reasonable replacement without the expense!
That reminds me too, I still have to make up a couple of tiny crowns for the ends of the cat heads!Crying

Lovely work!

Really lovely work on this one. Just been looking at how you have painted some of the small decorations and they do look really smart indeed.

Very well done.
Happy Modelling

Hi Robin, appreciate the tip on creating a new crown.. There are more crowns to come and I have modelling putty and epoxy so could have a go at creating my own.... Thanks for looking in and the kind comments, still lots more bling to paint and add yet..... Cool Cool

Issue 111 continues with the finishing and fitting of some ornamentation on the main deck bulkhead... the centre piece here should have a crown mounted above it but that will have to wait until I replace the crown that went down the bowspit opening... Blushing Blushing .. Also made up and fitted the gun port hatches at the stern's lower deck, these are fitted as a closed ports...Cool Cool ..

To finish off this issue means the making up of all the mast uprights so in preparation for this work have now set up the unimat with the bowspit in place ready for tapering down.... Issue 112 due to be collected tomorrow so until later happy building all.... Cool Cool

Issue 112 again showed a lot of work to be done...Huh Huh .. This started with applying a clear varnish to some brass etch decoration to prevent tarnishing over time... Fitted these in place using some CA....Cool Cool.. Next task was again some detailed painting of yet more decoration.. Finished by applying a coat of varnish and fitting in place....Cool Cool.. After blackening some brass hinges set about fitting these to 12 gun port hinges.. Attached lengths of thread to the eyelets, applying a little PVA to each of the knot to hold in place and cut each thread to 20mm lengths... Applied bees was to the thread which made it stiffer and easier to handle....Cool Cool.. Drilled 1mm holes 5mm above the centre of each gun port. Fitted some of the gun port hatches in place, still have the 3 to do under the chainwale platforms which I hope to fit tomorrow... Fed the thread through the holes above the ports, applied a little CA to hold in place making sure each line was taught.. A fiddly process but got there in the end..... Cool Cool . Finished drilling all of the holes in the handrails on each of the fighting tops, careful measuring was required during this task using the drilling plan provided in the previous issue.... Pics of these will be shown when constructing the masts... Also been working on the mast sections but these I will not complete until I have the received the mast plan in the next issue....Cool Cool .. Happy building all....

Regards

Alan,
This build is something else, ever time I take a look I am amazed at the effort and skills you have put in with your build, as I haven't started Sovereign yet, looking at your build makes me think I will, but alas I have to many builds at the moment.
Thank you for posting.

Trev.

Thanks for those very kind words Trev, aways appreciated... Cool Cool . This is a great kit to put together even though at times it has been extremely challenging and also frustrating, but am sure when you get going on your own build you will love it too... I know this kit will give you the challenges you appear to thrive on so I'll be following your progress all the way once you get underway.... Cool Cool ..Thanks again...
