Got the Mizzen mast completed today... I mentioned in my last post about drilling two small holes in the main mast cap... decided to drill the same two holes in all the mast caps, reason being I want to feed the halfyards over the top of the mast cap and back down through the small holes before fitting to the yards....Blink Blink .. Assembly again was pretty straight forward and ensured everything was orientated correctly and properly lined up..... Cool Cool .. Masts sitting in position but not glued as yet.... Tomorrow will make a start on the foremast which probably has the most work of all to be done.....Cool Cool .. Happy building all...

Regards

Alan

Hi guys, well issue 114 at long last is now complete with the exception of actually gluing in place the bowsprit, this will be done when the foremast is set. Other 3 masts have been secured in place now... This issue also included the adding of yet more bling to the forward section plus more gun port lids....Cool Cool . A very long issue, lots of work but am very pleased with the results....Cool Cool

Next issue starts with more bling and the first of the lower shrouds....Blink Blink .. The rigging starts!!!! Happy building all.

Regards

Alan

Finally finished issue 115 and this one started off with the painting and fitting of yet more bling.... It also had me painting bling that had already been fitted to the ship in previous issues, this made it a little more fiddly that it usually is....Cool Cool .. Once the bling was fitted I got down to the task of starting the rigging with the fitting of the shrouds on the foremast.... Cool Cool .. A slow and painstaking process but at the same time extremely enjoyable even if I say I found this to be probably the hardest part of the build to date but did get easier as I improved on my technique.... The white bobbin you see hanging from the lower fighting top was put there to help me ensure I kept the mast truly vertical whilst tensioning the shrouds, found it worked very well for me....Cool Cool .. Onto issue 116 which consists of more bling plus shrouds for the main and mizzen masts, ratlines and a few other things... Looking at the instructions this is going to be another long session.....Cool Cool .. So until next update, happy building all....Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan like the bobbin idea. Now if you wrap some paper around the mast and tape it together sobthat it toiches the bobbin you will see if the mast moves iven by a fraction of mm

Looking forward to your first rigging experiance 😁😁😎

Hi Alan,
I do love the work on the rigging very skilful, as Dave said it is sad to see the end of a build,154 pages! that's a record in it's self on this Forum, that alone shows the time and effort you have put into this build, and for other Sots builders to follow. Your build is one of those that will stay in my mind for a long time and others to, so even when finished it will not end.

Trev.
