Hi Members
I have just purchased a Constructo model of the Cutty Sark, I have visited the ship in Greenwich and have noticed that the model is different to the original. Has anybody had any experience of this make of model as help would be grateful, ie colouring and copper plating to the hull......Thanks Terry

Hi Terry,

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your stay. There are lots of friendly helpful people here.

Unfortunately I can't shed any light on your question but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can shed soms light.

Welcome to Modelspace Terry, I can't personally help you with your question specific to the Constructo kit but there are several Cutty Sark builds on this forum for you to take a look at.
I'm sure they all have their differences from the real thing as does your kit and I guess it's up to you to build as is, or to try to make the changes to match.

There is a HMS Victory copper tile guide here - http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=2981

Or, my own guide to using copper tape is here - http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=7800

Good luck with it anyway and perhaps you could post a build diary some time?BigGrin

Steve

Thank boys for your comments, this is my third model, (Mayflower-Endevour) and after visiting the boat at Greenwich I have wanted to build her so I'm interested in completing the model as accurately as possible. I will definitely post a dairy at each stage and look forward to your comments..........Terry

Welcome aboard Terry, it will be great to see another Cutty build on the forum.... hope you enjoy the build and your time with us....Cool Cool .. There are a number of Cutty build diaries for you to look at and probably the best to look at would be the one from Samson who is doing a fair amount of scratch building... Here is a link to his diary....

http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=6724

I don't know of anyone who has built the Constructo version and will look forward to seeing how you progress. How accurate you want to make it will be down to you and your own reseach and am sure help will be here should you need it.... Cool Cool

Regards

Alan
