Stage 40 contains the left crankcase half, starter cover, cord grommet, cables and screws.

Check that the square cut out on the left hand crankcase is smooth and free from flash if any flash is present use a file to remove any sharp edges. Next use an 'E' type screw to tap the two holes in the left and right crankcases.

Now take the oil pan and line it up with the bottom of the left hand crankcase making sure the half round projection fits into the circuit board. Position the cable as shown and mark it where it crosses the crankcase edge. Remove the oil pan and wrap a 10 cm length of tape around where you marked the cable.

Lay the left crankcase on a table and place the cable in the position shown so there is a gap of about 2 cm then holding the cable in position fit the right crankcase onto the left crankcase. Hold the two crankcase halves together and fit the oil pan studs into the holes and use two 'B' type screws to fix it in place then use two 'E' type screws to fix the crankcase halves together as shown.

Next take the L shaped grommet and push it gentle in place making sure the cut out on the stud lines up with the cut out in the hole. Take the starter cover and line up the studs with the holes on the crankcase and push gently into place. Turn the crankcase over and line up the three pins on the sensor window with the three holes in the oil pan and press it lightly into position.

This concludes stage 40, store any assembled parts safely in a bag labeled with the stage number future use.
