Greetings from Oz, Yep. Another build. :) Only up to Issue 9 here - waiting expectantly for the postie to deliver Issues 10-13. Have completed the cockpit (with a small amount of fibre optic) and made a start on painting the hull panels. Pics below... Took forever to come up with a base-coat I was happy with. A REQUEST - if any of you overseas types have a half-full tube of Abteilung 'Starship Filth' or 'Faded UN White' they want to sell - LOOK NO FURTHER - I'll happily buy it. :)

Thanks for the welcome, guys.
Issues 10-13 didn't arrive - so have spent the weekend masking up the hull pieces I do have prior to spraying some coloured panels. That should keep me busy.

"FUNNY STORY - I learnt the hard way not to trim fibre optic at BOTH ends. Had completely finished the nav computer - and then thought I'd be smart and trim the end that goes into the light source. Wrong move. All my fancy, coloured lights immediately turned white. Had to pull them all out, re-drill and re-glue about 30 strands. A few choice words were uttered that day!" One thing you can do is use a sharpie marker of the color you need and re-tint the ends of the fiber. I use this trick all the time. works great. Just wondering where you got your fibre optics from? Was it here in Oz?

Hi Mike,
The coloured fibre was purchased on eBay from a US seller. I'll see if I can track down his username. Prices were very reasonable - and some of the best customer service I have come across on eBay.
EDIT - username is 'me80'
A good bloke to deal with.

Here's a tip. Instead of paying premium prices for pre-colored fiber optics, buy a spool of normal fibers, use them as you normally would and just use one of the following to "color" them yourself:
1) Use a colored sharpie to color the end at the light. 2) Dip the lighted end in transparent paint. 3) Get a printer refill kit, some future floor wax, and mix up your own transparent paint, then dip the fiber in the color you want.
Alot easier, alot less expensive, and produces wonderful results! Just my two cents!
