Hi all Wings on stand in the place where my wife says it WILL NOT be living!! I estimate about 2 hours work left to finish but I have to be honest and say I'm exhausted having spent a lot of time recently working on it. So probably another week realistically until completion. Would love to see some more build photos if anyone has any updates on theirs. Regards all. Alan ALW attached the following image(s):

Your stand looks good, nice design. Think your wife is right, don`t think it would be to safe when completed as it is a big model when finished. Sure you`ll find a place for it to be admired. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Looking great Alan and I love the stand which is a great personal touch and turned out very nicely.
Tell the wife if she stops you having your way then she must expect you to deny her something in return? That'll do the trick ..... or you'll end up in hospital!!

Hi Derek Thanks. I wanted something a bit different for the stand. The font that is used with the supplied name plate looked like wild west type and I wanted something more fitting and my idea was to use the typeset that was used in the war years which is similar to what I have used so finished it nicely-that's my opinion anyway !!!

Hi Kev My wife is of the variety that whatever I suggest is wrong but immediately she will make the same suggestion and suddenly it's ok-ring any bells? On a serious note it is going to be difficult to find somewhere to display it. I'll keep looking! Regards. Alan

Hi Tomick
No problem with the docking piece, it was easy to mark out where the holes should be. I have ended up using screws though as one of the captive nuts fell out-I did glue it but not to worry.
I had to glue some small strengthening pieces within the motor housing bay so the screws had something to 'bite' into but nevertheless works a treat.
Regards.

Thanks Phil
I'm really happy with the stand, I'd been toying with ideas for a while and it was so simple to do!

Really nice design on the stand Alan, such a shame your wife will not let you display it there but then I remember how other halfs can be with the display of things where you want them

That's looking great Alan, well done. Displaying the model where you want it was always going to be a problem, it's huge when fully assembled. I have my eye on a place here but management may have other ideas. Alec Built: Bluenose, Arab Dhow, HMS Bounty, Hummer H1, D51, Spitfire,E type Jaguar. In Progress: HMS Victory, , Yamaha YZR-M1
Adapt, improvise, overcome.

Thank you for your comments. Space is definitely at a premium. I'm hoping to buy the HK Models 1/32 Lancaster, god only knows what I'm going to do with that!! I suppose my wife will have to move out

Hello all My Spitfire complete! I am now moving on to my Tamiya 1/16th RC Tiger. I want to thank everyone who has given their advice over the last nearly two years, without it it would have been a bit more of a difficult build. I wish everyone success with their Spitfire and I will be looking in to see how your models are progressing. Kind regards to all. Alan ALW attached the following image(s):

That`s a really good finish. WTG Have you found it`s final display place yet? Will you be putting the finished article in a display case to keep the dust off? Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi Derek Thank you. No display case I'm afraid. I suppose I'll have to get the duster out! I'm going to display it in my office (not a huge office) but at least there is somewhere to place it, however the wing overhangs the work surface so will just have to be careful. Regards. Alan
