Have been working on Robi for the past several weeks. Lots of experience with building model trains and astronomy gear. Building Robi is a wonderful new challenge.
Have 2 fully functional legs, right arm is fully functional. Left arm needs some work. Individual components work but only shoulder movement after assembly. Will take apart as described in instructions. My guess is a loose cable.

Left arm tests fine now. Just a loose cable connecting shoulder servo 19 to upper arm servo 20. Very tight space, easy to dislodge from 19 when positioning servo into place. Will post some photos soon. Astronomy Guy File Attachment(s): astronomyguy attached the following image(s):

Glad it was something simple and you are able to get back on track. How much more do you have left to go? DeAgostini kit builds:

Just completed stage 54 this afternoon. I'm very pleased with the progress I've made. I have no real experience building electronic devices. Will work on Robi some more this weekend. Astronomy Guy

Have completed stage 62 of pack 16. No particular difficulties since the last post. Retest of head servers went perfectly at the end of stage 61. I've used labeled baggies to keep parts in order during disassembly reassembly tasks. Till next time, Astronomy Guy

Completed Robi this Afternoon! During the start up needed to use Yes Robi, No Robi to register. A simple yes or no would not work. Good speech recognition and balance. Fully functional. Building the kit was a rewarding experience. Excellent instructions, was challenging but worth the time. Took about 100 hours. Will recommend to others. The Astronomy Guy

Completed Robi photo attached. Robi was a big hit in the apartment courtyard last night. Adults were hesitant to interact with him but the kids had no inhibitions. Responded well to the children's voices. Ages ranged from 18 months to 12 years. I've used robotic toys with children with developmental disabilities extensively and with adults with dementia as well. Last night's performance demonstrated some real potential. Astronomy Guy
