Sorry to contradict you but in the French Navy (Ships of the line and frigates, 17th and 18th centuries) there is ONLY one way to store the launches. And for your information, I study the French naval archaeology for 50 years.
Do what you want but this is a huge error.

The intent of a partwork ship model kit is to give a novice a chance to build a ship that looks cool to the general populace, not to create a historically accurate model fit for a naval museum. More so when it's in regards to a ship that is currently landfill in a parking lot and where not even the Paris model can decide if it is actually a model of the 1669 SR or her successor or maybe partwise both. I have enough to do with learning to plank and rig a ship, I'm not going to turn things around on their head to enhance historical accuracy to a degree that no one that will see the ship in real life or most online places can even appreciate. This is how projects never get finished. If one wanted to enhance historical accuracy, there are so so many other places on this kit to work on. You start with the boats, then you notice you need to redo the second planking because its not following the lines of wales as it should. Then you decide to rebuild the cannons in their entirety because the carriages aren't wood (and one of the cannons delivered is a physical impossiblity in itself). And the list goes on and on and then you're dead with a husk of a ship. So I'd rather finish this before the lung cancer invariably gets me and earn a "That's a pretty cool ship, dude" from my buds and that's fine for me ;-)

I must admit I am with you Greyhawk it all depends on what configuration you are looking at whether it's the early one or the later one just before she was destroyed as the ships boats were reconfigured towards her later life Rgd Martyn Building ? Completed. Soliei Royal . Sovereign of the Seas . Virginia . Scotland . San Felipe . Corel vasa , Santisima Trinadad X section , Vasa Next Build ? I would like to say, It is down to each individual modeller as to how they want to build their ships. If they want it accurate down to the last nail then thats up to them. To come on and spout on about incorrectness etc isnt warranted. Please refrain from doing so as it only causes aggravation in the forum. We welcome constructive advice but not to the point that where you rip apart their build.
Thanks Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Think I agree with everybody. Its down tobthe indevidual to decide how much improving they chose to do or not do, we all have different levels of skill and time and indeed money to be honest a really well done stright build will look awsum “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

82: Sanded the entire hull, added the keel and stem, cut down and sanded the stand to form a straight and stable fit with the hull.

That's a pretty cool looking ship Greyhawk. It looks awesome just as it is and as you say the general populace that see it aren't going t have a clue about any inaccuracies. They'll just be blown away by the level of detail and the complex rigging when finished
