Hi Andy! IJN deleted the stern names in war period to keep the secrets of the operations. I guess DeAGOSTINI knows it. Best Regards, Yutaro DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Great build diary, I scrolled through it, which I need to stop doing as it makes me want to start more kits as they all look so much fun to do, just need to focus on what I'm building right now, but this one is on my future list. Hi Andy I am about to paint my deck on the YAMATO using the artists ink and the smoke spray and I'm not sure how to use the Cool Grey ink. Is it better to spray it use a paint brush or put it on with a rag. I have tried it on some spare planks with the Tamiya Smoke spray and it just looks a total disaster . Is there any special way of putting it on the deck?.I don't want to ruin my build at this late stage. If I can't get this to look right I might just go and spray the deck the Tamiya Tan colour similar as shown in the instructions. I can pretend it's just had a new deck Any advice is appreciated Thanks Terry FINISHED BUILDS---- HMS Victory--Bismarck--Battleship Yamato-D51 Steam Train--Pocher Ferrari Testarossa--Soleil Royal--Schnellboot S-100--StageCoach 1848--HMS HOOD-- Delorean (Back to the Future)

Hi Terry The deck was 1st sealed with sanding sealer then sanded smooth the grey was then brushed on and the smoke sprayed over after it was dry at 50% dilution. after leaving it to dry out it was then sanded back by hand to get the effect of lights and darks on the deck. See post #334 here: http://forum.model-space...sts&t=2756&p=17
You really do not have to follow what I did if its not working out for you and its your model so do what you like on the decks otherwise you may constantly look at it thinking I wish I had done it differently. Whatever you choose to do Im sure it will be fine. Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
