Did you use the copper cladding as advertised for HMS Victory which is of same scale or did you make your own ?

Hi DWallace BigGrin
Thanks for your question . The copper plates are of ordinary copy paper -ca. 4-5 sheets A4, cut into first strips and afterwards in pieces. After they are glued with plain white glue (diluted 1-1 with water) it is all spray painted with copper paint. see page 4.

cheers

Jens

Hi, Jess and Jonny
Thank you for your fine words about my model boat
And sorry I do not answer you early
I have not been productive the past year and Cutty Sark has accumulated a lot of dust, but now I will start again and get a little farther with the construction.
Merry Christmas
Jens

Absolute brilliant builds you have there. So neat and precise.

Interested to note your copper tiling done with paper and paint.

I have a kit stored away of the CSS Alabama and for the copper effect in this model they supply pre-cut 0.5mm wood strip dyed in a greenish dye to represent weathered copper. Quite an interesting way of doing it and close to your idea of paper and paint that does look very good.
Happy Modelling

Hello everyone
After a long break, I have found the model hobby again. and to restart softly. I have redesigned the lifeboats. I have sanded them round and then planked them up with paper strips to make them look more real

Cheers

Now that is a very neat idea to get the clinker effect on your life boats.

They look really good.

Hi Tony , Alan and Martyn Thanks for looking in to My page BigGrin BigGrin

yes sometimes it is not always the most obvious material that has the best effect. but I've been happy with paper for many things, it's cheap. you have a lot of it. it's dull to shape. and in the small scale model is even the thinnest wooden veneer too rough.

cheers

Hi All
Alan and Tony thanks for wrighting komments .

A little update in the neverending story. I will roughly make all yards and make all the brass rings and fittings before I finally fix the masts - the 9 rings shown on yarde have taken 10 hours to form roughly 1 hour piece

Cheers
