Thanks for the interest and comments. Had a busy day today but managed to get some paint on the main engine assembly. I`m using the tamiya colours exactly as suggested in the instructions: X-18 semi gloss black XF-16 flat aluminium X-11 + X-6 chrome silver + orange at a ratio 2:1 Results below and more soon. Many thanks for looking in and the comments posted. Sat back last night and looked in depth at all the detail to come in the power train and rear suspension etc and thought "In the end I`m going to cover all this up", seconds later had another thought "The heck I am". So took the "Bull by the Horns" went down the "Do or Die" route and went for "Doo Doo or Bust". If this went wrong it would mean another kit. I decide to split the one piece body part in the kit into two parts following the moulded seam lines. The attached pics will explain this course of action: Pic 1 Box artwork of the power train Pic 2 Just one very small piece of the detail that would be lost Pic 3 Seperation after what seemed like hours of scoring and rescoring the panel lines Pic 4 The Pit crew and tool kit includes some stands, so Pic 5 As the rear panel will be displayed in the finished dio (may not be in that exact position though) Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Great idea to split the body, as you say, it would be a shame to hide all that detail.

Thanks for all the interest. Today I`ve brought a lot of small parts together after painting. Apart from one pipe and the engine mounting frame, the engine is complete.(A bit of a mile stone) The engine as shown below consists of 17 parts and is shown warts and all in close-up as the engine from any view is about the size of a 50p piece. I remember you said that this wasn't your normal genre Derek and that you would consider it a bit of challenge but were willing to give it a go? I think you're meeting that challenge admirably with some very nice work on the BMW engine and well done you for daring to separate the cowling too, I'm sure it will all work out very well in the end.
Well done again and good luck in the competition, looking good.
