This is my Historic F1 build entry. The 1968 season was notable for many reasons, not least of which was the availability of the Ford Cosworth DFV 3.0 Litre V8 for teams other than Lotus. Mclaren designed the M7’s around this engine and it gave Bruce Mclaren his first F1 championship race win for team Mclaren, making him only the second driver to win a GP with his own team name on the car ( Brabham being the other ). Graham Hill and Lotus eventually won the season but Mclaren came in at second place in the constructors title with Hulme 3rd and Mclaren 5th in the drivers championship. Team Mclaren also scored their first 1st -2nd place victories in Italy and Canada. Various innovations appeared during the season such as the use of wings and sponsor colours on the cars in a number of configurations. This M7 will be a long awaited addition to my ( small but growing ) Mclaren model collection. I intend to present it in some form of Pit Lane Diorama but time and technique may be against me . !RM1 attached the following image(s):

HI Carl, thanks for looking in. I'm polishing with ever finer grades of paper, 1000, 1200, up to 2000 to get the casting marks out. Then a real polish with a Tamiya medium compound polish on a microfibre cloth. I stretch the cloth over a hard surface and rub the parts face down on that. I've been experimenting with a soft wheel on a Dremel tool but it hasn't given me the finish that I want. Hope that helps. Malc.
