STAGE 55 – THE FRONT ASSEMBLY

In this stage we get:

Cross Wrench

Frame Axle 72.5mm

Frame Axle 77.5mm

We also need to recover:

Stage 32 – Front Wheel

Stage 4 – Front Brake Disc

Stage 23 – Front Wheel Hub

Stage 41 – Front Assembly

We need to go searching for the front brake disc and Front Wheel Hub.

Also needed is the front wheel and tyre.

We press fit the front brake disc into place on the wheel. This is quite a tight fit but it does need to be pressed well into place otherwise the wheel assembly will not fit between the front forks.

The front wheel hub is just a press fit into place.

We then take the front assembly, again this has been safely stored away to prevent any damage to it.

The wheel is then placed between the front forks and the axle passed through the whole assembly and secured with the supplied nut.

Coming together very nicely.

Little bit behind posting at the moment due to a mailing issue.

Had the next set of Harley and lambo parts last week but no build guide in either pack.

I did report it and they have said it should be easy to resolve but not received snything as yet.

I could just build the parts from the official online one but hoping to get the proper instruction books.

Jaguar i have not posted as mine is nothing exceptional but had that paclk as well last week so on that one its just one more pack and its finished.

Mayflower i was going to post but there was a problem uploading pictures, now resolved i see. That is coming along well but slow. Nearly have the lower hull sealed with the first plank layer. Aiming to post some more on that at the weekend as we have the bank holiday and i also managed to get Tuesday as a days leave.

SATURDAY 06TH JUNE - HARLEY DAVIDSON FLSTF “FAT BOY”


PACK 18

Well a real frustrating month with the parts arriving early May along with my Lamborghini parts but neither pack had the assembly booklets.
Have tried 3 times now to get them sent and despite being told they have been sent still nothing has arrived.

I held off trying to build this stage as the instructions do call out parts that have yet to be supplied or has you pulling in parts from earlier packs and it can become somewhat “confusing”.

However, looking through the various kits this morning I noticed that all of the build guides are online so using that I have progressed with Pack 18.

STAGE 57 – ASSEMBLING THE TRANSMISSION CASE

PICTURE 1

In this stage we get:

Gear Change Pedal

Rubber Covers for the gear pedals

Sprocket

1 x Type U Screw

PICTURES 2, 3, 4, & 5

We also need the following parts:

From Stage 58 – Gear Rod

From Stage 58 – Drive Belt Cam

From Stage 27 – Transmission Case

From Stage 29 – Transmission Case

From Stage 30 – Drive Belt

4 x Type F Screws

This is were I finally get to understand what these “clicky” switches are all about. It seems when you have installed the gear change lever these provide the “sound/Feel” of changing gears.

We start by fitting the Gear Rod through the hole in the Transmission Case.

We then take the Drive Belt Cam and passing a “F” type screw through this we secure it to the Gear Rod. Little bit fiddly trying to hold it all together while fitting the screw in place.

We then take the Sprocket, which is very nicely painted and packaged, for an item that will not be seen.

The sprocket is then placed over the peg on the Transmission Case and then the Drive Belt is put over the sprocket.

The 2 halves of the transmission case are then screwed together using 3 x Type F screws.

STAGE 59 – THE GEAR CHANGE PEDAL

Tyre for The Rear Wheel

We also need the following parts:

From Stage 57 – Gear Change Pedal

From Stage 57 – Type U Screw

From Stage 57 - Rubber Covers for The Pedals

From Stage 58 – Cam for gear change pedal

From Stage 58 – Gear Change Pedal Support

The Rubber Pedal Covers are a press fit but you do need to note they are keyed with the peg being a “D” shape.

The pedal is then put into the hole in the support.

We then add the cam to the back of this assembly and secure all 3 component parts together with the Type “U” screw.

So, for this time that completes this pack.

Still frustrated by the fact the build guide has not arrived so that is some more chasing to be done next week.

STAGE 61 – THE SWINGARM

In this stage we get: (and use none of these parts this time)

Transmission Housing

Fuel Tap

Rear Fender Reflectors

We also need the following parts:

From Stage 31 – Left Side of the Swingarm with Belt Guard

From Stage 60 – Engine Block

From Stage 26 – Deflector

From Stages 49 & 53 – Right Side of the Swingarm with the brake and the support for the Rear Shock Absorbers.

We start by pulling the drive belt through and then pass it around the belt guard.

We then have to locate the Deflector over the 3 pegs ensuing it’s the correct way round allowing the belt to sit in the Deflector cut-out.

The shock absorber support bracket is installed next. Again, this is just a press fit over the peg on the swingarm.

“wishing for a third hand” we then place the second half of the swingarm over the whole assembly.

None of this is screwed together so great care needed so that the whole assembly does not fall apart.
