Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

This is the start of the next pack which will cover Issues 95 - 98. Cool

Well, the end is in sight for the main build of Ironman`s Armour with him standing straight up. (Position A)

In this first update (Issue 95) we will continue building the Abdominal section for Position B, where Ironman will be posed with the upper body twisted slightly to one side. NOTE: In the instructions at the end of issue 95 it states that the position B abdomen is complete, but that is incorrect as it is not completed until the first stage of issue 96. (Coming soon)

Parts supplied for this issue are shown in Pic 1. You will also need the assembly from the last update Issue 94.

Start by positioning the left side plate (95C)to the front abdominal armour (95D) as shown in Pic 2, then secure the parts together with the use of an LP screw as in Pic 3.

The Internal Connection Support (95E) is now placed into the inside of the previous parts and secured by 2 x IP screws. Pic 4.

Time now to bring the Issue 94 assembly to the work space and slide it inside the the parts just assembled. Pic 5. Then whilst carefully holding the parts in position, turn them over and fix them together using an LP screw. Pic 6.

The right side plate (95B) is now put into position, Pic 7 and is fixed by the use of an LP screw. Pic 8.

Finally, slide the Abdomen/Chest Connector (95A) into the assembly and fix it with 2 x UP screws. Pic 9.

That completes this stage of Abdomen B, Pic 10, which will be completed in the first stage of Issue 96. More on that when I post up Issue 96. Blink

Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

Well here I am with the start of Issue 96. ThumpUp

Now, you will note that I said "start of Issue 96" and the reason for that is that there is a lot of building to do and therefore lots of pictures to post. I estimate approximately 60 in total.

My intention therefore is to post as follows:

a) Finishing Abdomen B.

b) Part 1 and 2 (posted simultaneously) for The Hip Joints.

c) Calf Armour Plates for each leg.

d) Part 1 and 2 (posted simultaneously) Connecting both Legs to the Hips.

These will be posted as soon as possible after each other for continuity and will save a lot of scrolling with the lower amount of pictures in each post.

Lets crack on with the first post: "Finishing Abdomen B" ThumpUp Woot

Parts supplied in Issue 96 shown in Pic 1. Also required is the end assembly from Issue 95.

Start by placing the Connection Button (96B) into place on the inside of the Lower Back Armour (96A), then position the Spring (96D) onto the post of the button, all of which is shown in Pic 2.

Position the Spring Base (96C) over the post with the spring and secure it in place with the use of 2 x IP screws. Pic 3.

Bring the end assembly from Issue 95, back to the table and position it with the assembly built in this stage as shown in Pic 4. Then whilst carefully holding the parts together, fix them using 2 x UP screws via the holes indicated in Pic 5.

There are now two Armour plates to fit that are also the covers of the last two screws used. Both these parts are press fit, so be careful of the pins. The right plate (96E) is shown in Pic 6 and the left plate (96 F) in Pic 7.

That completes the first update (Pic 8) for Issue 96, with the next update coming soon in two parts, posted one after the other.

Take care and see you soon. BigGrin

Hi All,BigGrin BigGrin

Here we are with the second instalment of Issue 96. Due to the size of this stage it is posted in two parts.

In this update we will be building The Hips.

HIPS (Part 1)

In Pic 1: I have shown the parts that will be used in this update including parts left over from Issue 96 and parts that have been stored from previous issues.

Recover the parts from Issues 71 and 33 that are marked with an "L" Pic 2 and fit a friction ring (96G) inside the socket from Issue 33, Pic 3.

Now position the socket and friction ring onto the ball of part 71B. Lift the ring under the ball and make sure that the pin on the socket locates correctly into the lower ring and then fix them together using 4 x KP screws, Pic 4. Note: Locate all four screws in position and then tighten them equally in turn. Tighten them enough so that the ball and socket joint is stiff, but can still be moved.

Now recover the same parts, but marked with an "R" and fit a friction ring 96G into the socket. Pic 5. Then assemble the ball and socket joint as before using 4 x KP screws. Pic 6.

Bring both ball and socket joints to the table, Pic 7, then place them together and fix them in place using 3 x LP screws Pic 8. Warning: The instructional booklet indicates an incorrect place to fit one of the LP screws. Pic 8 is correct.

The instructions now tell you to wrap the internal tabs of part 71a with double sided tape. I tried the fit of my part first and found that it stayed in place without the need for tape. If your part fits loosely then use the tape. Pic 9 shows the armour plate correctly positioned and concludes Part 1 of this update.

Part 2 coming very soon.

HI All, BigGrin BigGrin

Back with the second part of the Hips assembly.Cool

HIPS (Part 2)

Pic 1 shows the parts that have been stored away from previous issues, along with the parts from issue 96. Small error on my part in that I omitted the GP screws from the Pic. Blushing Blink Blushing

To start you will need the central ball and socket assembly from the previous update (Part 1) and the first hip joint cover 52B that is marked with an "R". It should be noted at this point that the two tabs on each ball and socket joint are different sizes.

Position the LARGE tab into position inside the cover as shown in Pic 2.

Now place the second cover 52A on top of the first, Pic 3. Then while holding the parts firmly together fix them together using 2 x KP screws, Pics 4 and 5. CAUTION: Take care not to apply to much pressure when putting these KP screws in place or you can break the connecting tabs of the covers.

Then fasten the base of the two covers together with a GP screw as in Pic 6.

We can now assemble the left side covers (marked with an "L") in the same manner. Position the covers as in Pics 7 and 8. Fix with 2 x KP screws Pic 9 and 10. Fix the base of these covers using an LP screw, Pic 11.

Recover the side plates from Issues 44 and 64 Pic 12. noting they are also marked "L" and "R" and the inner tabs are of different sizes, so will only fit in one orientation. They press into position on the spindles that protrude from the ball and socket joints, Pics 13 and 14.

Lastly, carefully remove the backing paper from each felt pad 96H and position them centrally onto the circular base of each pair of covers. Pic 15.

That completes the construction of the Hip Joints (Pic 16) and this update.

The next update for Issue 96 will be where we add armour plating to the legs.

Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

I`m back with the next update for the on-going Issue 96. Laugh

In this update I`ll show the details of how to fit the Calf armour plates to the legs.

That will leave the fitting of the legs to the hip joints to come soon.

Just for a change Pic 1 "DOES NOT" show parts supplied in this stage.LOL Flapper, what it does show is the parts needed from the stored parts we`ve been sitting with for some time.Blink Blink

Lets get on.Cool

Start with the right leg and the part from Issue 63. Pic 2. You will see (circled in blue) the part of the armour plate that will connect it to the leg and the yellow arrows that indicate exactly where those connectors must go.

Pivot the connecting part of the calf armour plate to approximately a right angle to the plate and push the plate into the leg as shown in Pic 3. When fully engaged you will hear it click into place and it should then be the same as shown in Pic 4. That completes the right leg and all the rear plates should move as shown in Pic 5.

Now all you have to do is repeat that process on the left leg and this update is complete. Pic 6.

The next update is still quite a biggun, so will post in two parts, one after the other.

Take care and see you all soon. BigGrin

Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

This is the final update for Issue 96, where we will connect the legs to the hip joints. This will be in two parts, but the process is the same for both the right and left legs. Part 1 will show the right leg and very soon after Part 2 will show the left.

PART 1:

In Pic 1, I have shown all the parts you need to gather together for this update. The parts from this issue (96) are the double sided tape strips, GP and IP screws.

Start by positioning the right side of the hip joints into the slot on the inside of the right leg. Pic 2. NOTE: Take care to avoid damage to the felt disc. Then place the Inner Thigh Structure (57A) in place and secure it with 4 x GP screws. Pic 3.

Bring in the gold/red part from Issue 55. Test fit this part on the rear of the right leg and if it is a loose fit, then wrap a double sided piece of tape around each of the locating tabs and refit. Pic 4.The inner thigh plate (55A) is now pressed into place. Pic 5. NOTE: The locating pins are very small so take extra care when installing this part.

We now turn to the front of the right leg and position part (56B) in place and fix it using 2 x IP screws. Pic 6. Finally with care, press part 56C into place Pic 7.

That concludes the attachment of the right leg and Part 1 of this update. Pic 8.

See you very soon for part 2 - connecting the left leg that will conclude Issue 96. Cool

Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

This is the final update for Issue 96, where we will connect the left leg to the hip joints.

PART 2:

In Pic 1, I have shown all the parts you need to gather together for this update. The parts from this issue (96) are the double sided tape strips, GP and IP screws.

Start by positioning the left side of the hip joints into the slot on the inside of the left leg. Pic 2. NOTE: Take care to avoid damage to the felt disc. Then place the Inner Thigh Structure (38A) in place and secure it with 4 x GP screws. Pic 3.

Bring in the gold/red part from Issue 36. Test fit this part on the rear of the left leg and if it is a loose fit, then wrap a double sided piece of tape around each of the locating tabs and refit. Pic 4.The inner thigh plate (36A) is now pressed into place. Pic 5. NOTE: The locating pins are very small so take extra care when installing this part.

We now turn to the front of the left leg and position part (37B) in place and fix it using 2 x IP screws. Pic 6. Finally with care, press part 37C into place Pic 7.

That concludes the attachment of the left leg and Issue 96 updates. Pic 8.

Issue 97 will be coming soon and will include making some parts for the abdomens for poses C and D. PLUS IRONMAN WILL BE COMPLTE FOR POSE A (standing straight)

Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

Well, here we go with Issue 97`s update.ThumpUp

First, we will be the building two identical assemblies that will be part of the Abdomens for Pose C and D.

Then, IRONMAN POSE "A" (Standing Upright) will be completed. Woot Woot Woot

Parts ..... Pic 1.

As these two assemblies are identical, I`ll only show one for obvious reasons.LOL LOL LOL

You have been supplied with two left and two right sides for these assemblies, so start with a left side part, Pic 2. Then position a spring onto a spring base and orientate as in Pic 3. Now take the spring and base and position them as shown in Pic 4, making sure the spring (yellow arrow) the pivot (blue arrow) and the catch (black arrow) are in the correct positions.

Now carefully position a right side of the assembly in place (marked "R") on top of the assembly so far. Ensure that the pivot of the spring base is correctly placed and secure the parts together using 3 x LP screws. . Pic 5

That completes the first assembly, so repeat the previous steps and produce the second. Pic 6.

HERE WE GO, LET`S GET IRONMAN "Pose A" FINISHED:

Bring in Pelvic Base "A" and push it into place until it clicks into place with the hip joints. Pic 7.

NOW PLEASE TAKE CARE: two LP screws now need to be used to lock the pelvic unit in place. You will need to move some of the hinged plates and manipulate the leg/hip joints on either side to fit these screws. Pic 8.

You now have the top and bottom halves of Ironman complete and just need to press the two halves together as shown in Pic 9. Note: No force should be needed if the halves are correctly aligned and you should hear a "click" when they are attached.

Tips for displaying Ironman in Pose "A" (standing):

Make sure the upper body is straight above the legs.

The body clamp of the stand should be around the lower rib area.

If you move the arms out from the body, you may need to adjust the position of the feet to keep the correct balance.

Just be sure that you keep hold of the model until it is balanced as needed.

Pics 10 - 12 show how my Pose "A" finished up. NOTE: the observant ones will see that I have not placed the screw covers into the top of the chest plate. The reason being that they have to come out in future issues. When I eventually decide which pose and armour I prefer, then I will put them in place. BigGrin

I won`t be leaving you here, I will continue through Pose "B","C" and "D" Issues 98 - 100 and the further through the battle damaged armour covered by Issues 101 - 120.

Watch this space and the "Finished Build" thread coming soon..ThumpUp ThumpUp

Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

Here we are with the last update of this pack, Issue 98.

ONLY 2 to go. Woot Unless you are going to join me in the "Battle Damage" 20 Issue extension.ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

So, the Issue 98 update:

In this update we will be building more of the Abdominal adaptors for use when you want to position Ironman in Poses C and D.

What I won`t be doing at this point is getting Ironman in Pose B (as per the instructions) and the reason for that is; I will be doing a "SPECIAL" after Issue 100 to cover the complete system of inter-changing parts for Pose B, C and D. That way, when I have shown all of the available poses, you will be able to choose which you prefer and save yourself all the work of changing parts over to make your choice .

Issue 98:

Parts .....Pic 1

Building parts for Pose C:

Bring parts 98A+B to the table. Pic 2. Position part B inside of part A and secure it using 2 x KP screws. Pic 3.

Next bring parts 98C+D to the table Pic 4. Position part D inside part C and fix in place using 2 x KP screws. Pic 5. That completes the parts construction for Pose C. Pic 6.

Building parts for Pose D:

Bring parts 98E+F to the table. Pic 7. Position part F inside of part E and secure them using 2 x KP screws as shown in Pic 8.

Next bring parts 98G+H to the table Pic 9. Position part H inside part G and fix in place using 2 x KP screws. Pic 10. That completes the parts construction for Pose D. Pic 11.

Issues 99 and 100 will be coming soon, where we will finish the construction of the Abdominal assemblies for Poses C and D.

Take Care. Cool Cool
