Issue 47

Assembling the Right Shoulder.

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.

Take the left shoulder outer frame ring (47D) and the arm joint (47A) and slide the ring over the joint as shown in picture 2.

Note: The fixing on the arm joint is hexagonal and not a “D” shape as shown in the magazine.

Insert the position gear (47F) as shown in picture 3. Place the retaining plate (47E) over the top, positioning the tabs in the slots, and apply a little quick drying glue to hold it in place, picture 4.

Insert the spring (47G) into the hole in the assembly you did in the last issue, pictures 5 and 6. Now place the assembly you’ve just made over the top, picture 7. Make sure the shaft passes through the hole and while keeping pressure to keep the parts together, secure it with a PM screw and cut washer, picture 8.

Fit the right shoulder detail (47B) onto the upper pin and secure it with an SP screw, picture 9. Finally, fit the shoulder extension plate (47C) by applying a little quick drying glue to both tabs, picture 10, whilst picture 11 shows it in place.

Picture 12 shows the complete assembly for this issue.

Issue 48

Assembling the Right Shoulder.

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.

Connect the left underarm joint (48A) to the inner face of the shoulder assembly as shown in pictures 2 and 3. Place the friction disc (48C) into the recess on the lug on the inside face as shown in picture 4. Now fit the inner joint (48B) over the lug making sure the holes line up, picture 5. Insert the hexagonal screw (48I) through the holes and tighten it with the socket wrench that came in this issue. Insert the self-locking nut on the other end, using both the socket wrench and the spanner that came in issue 13, pictures 6 and 7.

Tip: Before placing the two friction discs in, make sure the bolt slides through them in the centre hole without any friction, file if necessary. I found by doing this, it makes it much easier to tighten the bolt with the spanner. Note that the bolt (48G) does not push through as the larger lug on the torso assembly has a thread and the bolt will need to be screwed in.

Place the two friction discs (48D) with the grooves facing out, in the joint as shown in picture 8. Use a little quick drying glue to hold these in place. Attach the shoulder assembly to the torso and screw in the bolt with a washer into the slot all the way as shown in pictures 9 and 10. Tighten up the bolt and then put the locking nut on the other end using the wrench supplied, holding the bolt with the spanner at the same time, picture 11.

Clip the detail in as shown in pictures 12 and 13.

Insert an outer shoulder connector (48F) into an inner one (48E) and join them with a pin (48F), pictures 14 and 15. Do the same with the remaining two.

Attach two of the shoulder connectors as shown in pictures 16 and 17, whilst placing the final connector on the opposite side as shown in picture 18.

Picture 19 shows the complete assembly for this issue.

Issue 49

Assembling The Torso.

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.

Place the windshield (49B) onto the upper left side of the cab (49A) as shown in picture 2. Secure in place using 2 x DM screws, picture 3.

Apply a little glue to the end of the lenses (49C) and push them into the upper cab headlights (49D), pictures 4 and 5. Next, push fit the headlights onto the top of the cab, picture 6.

Finally, fit the windshield wiper blade (49E) into the outer hole under the windshield of the cab, picture 7.

That completes assembly for this issue.

Issue 50

Assembling The Torso.

Picture 1 shows the contents of the parts for this issue.

Take the right LED board (50A), this is marked with a “K” on the connector, along with the right side of the cab from issue 2, picture 2. Secure the LED board using 3 x YP screws as shown in picture 3. Next, take the left side cab and fit the LED board (50B) in the same way using 3 x YP screws, picture 4.

Place the centre torso frame from issue 2 over the top of the torso from issue 48 so that the pins from the centre torso rest on the post of the main torso. Note: make sure the left and right headlight cables pass over the top of the main torso before placing the centre torso. Secure with 4 x AP screws as shown in picture 5.

Take the screw caps (2 x 50E, 50D and 50 C), picture 6, and place them over the screws you’ve just secured the centre torso with. The two caps (50E) push fit on the far left and right screws, whilst cap (50D) fits to the inner left and cap (50C) fits to the inner right.
Tip: These are quite fiddly to attach, so I recommend using a small cocktail or any small stick with some blue tac attached and then sticking the caps on the end to place them on the screws, twisting the caps off once in place. Push the cap with the stick to make sure it is firmly in place as shown in pictures 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Push fit the right side of the cab onto the posts on the right central torso as shown in picture 11.

Warning: Please take note of this next step.
You will fit the cable (50A) marked with a “K” to the socket marked with the same letter. Picture 12 shows the magazine instructions which shows the “K” cable being inserted with the letter “K” on the left-hand side. This is incorrect and the “K” should be on the right-hand side. Please look carefully at the two pictures attached. If there is any resistance whilst connecting the cable to the circuit board, check you have the connector the right way round for the pins to go in as you may damage the board.

Picture 13 shows my cable in place.

Picture 14 shows the complete assembly for this issue.
