Hi All, BigGrin

The next pack of the ISS has arrived and it covers issues 27 - 32.

Before I start on issue 27, I have cut a section of the NASA schematic. This will show where we will be constructing the assemblies of this pack, Pic 1. The area of the model where we will be working is shown in Pic 2.

In issue 27 we will start the construction of the "Columbus Orbital Facility" (COF).

So, parts supplied.....Pic 3. You will also need the model built so far on its stand.

Position the part 21D underneath the metal bar of the main model and fix it in place using 2 x MS4 screws, Pic 4.

We now move away from the main model for a couple of minutes. Take the parts 21C and 21A. Position them and fix them using an AS5 screw as shown in Pics 5 and 6. Then place part 21B into the second position in 21C and fix that using another AS5 screw, Pics 7 and 8. The resultant assembly can now be placed onto the "COF" as shown in Pic 9.

That`s it for this update, but please note that the assembly added to the end of the "COF" is not permanently fixed until issue 31. So keep it safe until then.

See you soon for the update of Issue 28.

Hi All, BigGrin

Time for the next update with issue 28. This is a very short update and it involves the lower half of the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) Pessurised Module (PM).

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the main model on the stand.

Position the part 22A onto the metal support bar and fix it using 2 x MS4 screws, Pic 2.

That`s it for this update, the part 20A (Pic 3) is to be kept safely until the next update, issue 29.

See you all soon.

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we go with the next update for the ISS. Issue 29.

In this issue we will connect the lower half of "Node 2" and attach the "Airlock" (PMA 2)to it.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the part 20A from issue 28 and the main model on the stand.

We start with part 19A, the lower half of Node 2 and a piece of advise. This part has to fit between three others and fully engage with the main support bar (T shaped). This is a tight fit and unless the part is positioned squarely to all the others will be very difficult to fit, so take your time and do not force it into place. When the part is securely and correctly in place fix it using 2 x MS4 screws, Pic 2.

Next take the part 20A (issue 28) and the part 20B from this issue and place them together, Pic 3. Then keeping the two parts firmly together, attch them into place at the end of Node 2 using an MS4 screw, Pic 4.

That`s it for this update, so I`ll see you soon for issue 30.

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we go with the update for Issue 30. In this issue we will fit the upper section of the US Lab and this includes the supports for the main spar that will hold the array of solar panels.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the main model on the stand.

This update will come in two halves (A and B) to save scrolling through too many pictures.

Part A:

Start by fitting the part 7D into the upper part of the US Lab part 7E, Pic 2 and fix it in place from the inside using an AS5 screw, Pic 3.

Next, place the main spar support 7C into 7E as shown in Pic 4. This part is then fixed in place using 2 x MS4 screws, Pic 5.

Now press fit part 7J into place as in Pic 6, followed by part 7K in Pic 7 which is fixed in place using an AS5 screw, shown in Pic 8.

That`s it for part A of this update, I will be posting part B straight after this one is finished. ThumpUp

Hi All, BigGrin

I`m back with Part B of the issue 30 update. You will need the assembly from Part A and the left over parts, along with the Main Model.

Part B:

Start with the assembly from Part A and press fit the part 7M into place, Pic 1. Then add part 7L, Pic 2 and fix it in place using an AS5 screw, Pic 3. The top half of the US Lab should now be the same as shown in Pic 4.

Now, position the upper half of the US Lab onto the main model as shown in Pic 5. Then when you are sure it is correctly in place, fix it down using 4 x MS4 screws, Pic 6.

There are now the four screw covers to press into place. These will only fit in one position. 7F and 7G are shown in Pic 7 and 7H and 7i in Pic 8.

That completes the second half of Issue 30, so I`ll see you again soon for Issue 31.

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we are with the update for Issue 31. In this update we move back to the Columbus Orbital Facility (COF)to attach the upper section.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1. You will also need the model on its stand and the end plate of the COF, if you put it away for safe keeping at the end of issue 27.

If you removed the end plate of the COF for safe keeping, its now time to replace it on the model.

With the end plate in place, position the upper half of the COF part 21E in place as shown in Pic 2. With the parts of the COF fully engaged, fix them in place using 4 x MS4 screws, Pic 3.

That just leaves the parts 21F - 21i to be placed over the screws, which I have indicated in Pic 4. Note: These parts will only fit one way due to their sizes and locating lugs and corresponding slots.

That`s it for this update. Pic 5 shows how the ISS now looks.

Issue 32 will be here soon. You won`t need the main model for the last update of this pack, as we will be building the "Exposed Facility" (EF) that will fit onto the end of the "Japanese Experiment Module" (JEM) at a later date.

See you soon.Cool

Hi All, BigGrin

Here we are with the last update for this pack, with issue 32. In this update we will start the construction of the "Exposed Facility" (EF) that will fit onto the "Japanese Experiment Module" (JEM) at a later date.

Parts supplied.....Pic 1.

Start with the main part of the "EF", 25A. With the open side facing upwards add parts 25B - 25E (these parts only fit one way) and fix each in turn using an AS5 screw, Pics 2 - 5.

Now press fit part 25F into the end of 25A. Pic 6.

Finally turn the assembly over and carefully press the part 25G into position on 25E, Pic 7.

That`s all there is for this update and pack, so store the assembly safely until needed later on.

As soon as the next pack arrives I`ll be back with the next update. Take Care.Cool
