Hi everyone. I think it’s about time I logged in and introduced myself.Usual scenario the Ford GT40 has been one of my favourite cars for as long as I can remember and I have acquired many models over the years however I have always wanted a “Gulf GT40”and couldn’t find one that was affordable or to my liking so when I saw modelspace announce this build I just had to get on board. I didn’t want to build it just as it comes so I was really excited to see the modified build by Joe Bergman and have taken some of his ideas on board (thanks Joe Hopefully I’ll post some images shortly. Thanks

Hi everyone, these are the images (again) of my build so far. For the carburetors I used Vajello black and brown washes on the interior walls, pin washed the gaskets and gave the carburetors a coat of a pale gold. The throttle linkage was painted with Revell black, aluminium and brass, I then picked out the fuel line unions in Revell metallic blue, gold and red, finally adding a little black wash into the air intakes. The headlight housings where sprayed in Revell matt Schwarz. I gave the brake backplate a coat of Vajello black wash and also applied it to the disc cooling vents. After sanding off a casting line the caliper and brake cooling tube were treated to a coat of Revell aluminium and finally the piston was touched in with Revell gold. I also treated the seats to a coat of black wash and rubbed it off here and there to simulate wear. I would have liked to replace the fuel line with a braided steel one which 1075 was fitted with, I think you can just see it on one of the images, however I was too nervous of cutting the supplied one up in case it all went wrong. Finally many thanks must go out to delboy271155 for his help and patience with getting my images and posts sorted. GlynD attached the following image(s):

Off to a great start. I have this kit accumulating in my 'to-do' pile. I'll probably make a start on it when I have a few more packs but I'm going to modify it a bit and paint it to match a car a friend of mine owns...

Hi everyone I finally cracked on with my GT40 after many weeks of inactivity due mainly to not being able to get an acceptable modification of the fuel pumps but having got something remotely acceptable to me I was able to get stuck into the build and this is the result so far. I am really pleased with how the gearbox and rear suspension look and felt the need to post a couple of images. I have still got the roll bar to finish but that is taking shape now. I need to get some fine mesh for the small radiator and will be fitting some more piping into that area as well. Thanks for looking. GlynD GlynD attached the following image(s):

I think I was lucky to have hit a bit of a wall with my build so I wasn`t affected by the delay
