I realized I haven’t posted in a bit, I’m in month7 now (cannons), but heres the initial planking. I bundled the long strips and spray-painted the edged flat black, since using pencil or graphite stick on the edges was going to take too long. I’m fairly happy with it though it seems a bit too strong, so I may not do that again on the main deck! I cut equal lengths on a chop saw and used a simple stagger.

Completed deck before nails. I did a bit of sanding and one coat of matte urethane before drilling for the nails but this is the plain wood.

I followed Magpie1832’s fish line method for trenails, drilling small holes and superglueing 0.25 mm black monofilament fishing line. Trimmed the stubble flush with a razor blade, I think this looks really nice!  (July 20, 2018)

In Ocotober 2018, I visited San Diego and the replica Surprise (nee Rose) at the Maritime Museum. Here’s a shot of the main deck looking a bit rough, these planks haven’t been holy-stoned in quite some time!  The quarterdeck has recently been replanked and varnished, its a bit too yellow and shiny for my taste! Looks more like a recreational yacht deck.

Your trenailing looks great. Coming along well. Those new planks do look quite bright. Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Well nearly a year later, progress has been made though not as fast as I would have liked. Pack 9 and most of the upper deck detailing nearly done, here are a few top-down pictures. I’ve been building a 3D STL file for an appropriately scaled Brodie stove and flue, and trying to make laser cutter patterns for the 5 ships boats, after the Marqardt drawings. I can post more on those if there’s any interest. Sorry! Having trouble to make images display in the post!

Change the filename to something shorter and change the format from JPEG to JPG. Size of your images looks to be ok....
