Thank you for all the comments and support.
I have now applied the decals. I gloss varnished the areas first before applying them, useing fixing decal fluid and then matt varnished the whole model to seal in the paint and decals before using any oils. Once the varnish had a couple of days to dry, I then added some Mig oils, Navy blue and UN white, to give some texture to the grey paintwork. I applied turps with a brush and dotted the oils over the paintwork and with a dry soft brush brushed off in a downward motion until I was happy with the effect. This was allowed to dry for at least 24 hours. Markwarren attached the following image(s):

Once the oils had dried, I then used the same method and applied some dark rust and dark mud oils, again brushing off in a downward motion. In some areas I did not brush off the rust as much to give a more heavily rusting effect. This will now be left to dry for a week before the detailed weathering can be applied, giving me time to finish off the machine guns and start with the Navy soldiers.

Hi Mark, Look's like 100 pairs of troops size tens have walked over your landing craft and with the Oil's and paint work this will turn out a very serious build in the competition. Trev Work in progress: Tombstone (Scratch) - San Francisco 2. -The Mayflower ( scratch by plan).
OcCre- Santa-Maria (Kit).

Thank you guys for looking in and your comments. mogwai wrote:Hi looking great weathering is fantastic, never tried oils me self ,have to have try one day ,cheers mick. The oils are Fairly easy to use and are easily wiped off if you make a mistake, but they do need to be sealed with a varnish when dry. Mark

A little more done on the landing craft. I have attached the front ramp. Unfortunately, I had to take off the closing hooks as they did not attach to the closure very well when fitting. I have also metalized the steel rope, which will also have some grease added later in the build. I have finished the second machine gun with the PE and attached the shield to both. These were then primed. As you can see, couldn’t help but to dry fit them to see how they look. The PE kit also comes with the ammunition boxes that fit to the side of the machine guns, along with the bullet belts.

I have started weathering the hull. A lot of experimental work for me on this model trying to get it to look as realistic as possible. Just done the one side at the moment, wanted it to be a very worn look.
Thanks for looking, more soon.
