I´m afraid i´ve yet to do the first work on my victory this year!!! There`s somehow a total lack of time and motivation at the moment!
But at least one goal was achieved yesterday - i got my display case!! It is so big - i almost couldn`t get it into my car!
Also - with the cost of almost 500 Euro quite an investment!

Wow, Walter, that is some expensive display case but having seen the quality of your model, it should now have the best protection and will look stunning. Kind regards. Chris

Hi Walter, Great to see that you're getting closer and closer to the finish line. Oh... the display case... That was a whole project on its own for me... But well worth every penny spent... I didn't even risked to get the case delivered in one piece, I bought the glass panels separately, which was also required due to the special location of my cabinet. Looking forward to see your model in its full glory in the case. Happy building! Laszlo Finished builds: HMS Victory, HMS Victory Cross-Section

Hi Walter Display cases do tend to be expensive but in your case you have such a beautiful model it would be wrong to to set it in a case to protect it. I was motivated to do some modelling this morning but for the second weekend running we have strong winds and rain. Sounds stupid but these gale winds really scare me more than anything. Just cannot settle at the moment. Hope you get back to your build soon. Kind regards Tony Happy Modelling

Hi Walter, Glad you have your display case. Just to echo other sentiments about the cost, add the kit price to the hourly rate that it took to build, then the cost of the display doesn't look that bad. You wouldn't carry a €2000 camera in a rucksack! Kind regards, Garth "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! HMS Victory, Current build: Black Pearl. On hold: Bismarck, Golden Hind, Flying Scotsman, Victory Cross Section, SOTS, Tiger 1. Wish list: USS Constitution.

Walter, I would not have thought a case would have cost that much, but with your masterpiece you can not afford to just put it on a shelf, this is something we don't think of when buying a large kit, looking forward to seeing it in its case. So here`s my next update:
I added rope coils to all the fixation-points of the rigging.
This was a very fiddly work - most of the time trying to attach the coils while holding them with one pair of tweezers and fixing them with another pair - all behind and between all the rigging threads!!
I´m really glad i didn`t damage my rigging!
Next time i will try and attach those coils at an earlier timepoint of the build!DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter

Before attaching the davits i did a little research and came to the conclusion, that the positioning of the parts as shown in the instructions and also the rigging is completely wrong.
I wanted to postition them as shown in my books - but unfortunately that wasn`t possible - as that would have interfered with one of the gunports.
So i had to find a compromise and moved the aft davids a little bit backwards.
For the rigging i attached the two blocks on the mast much higher than in the instructions.
I don`t exactly know, if my rigging is right - comments are welcome!DaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter
