My eyes are not too bad, though it's my Optivisor with Japanese quality optics that makes it easy, but I do have a very steady hand which is a great bonus, and it also helps if I hold my breath to steady the hand even more .... though not for too long!

Haha!! Thanks Phil, I thought about maybe trying to get it running when it's finished but I don't think it's possible to build a working starter motor that small, so I'm just going to leave it as a static display model.

Hello all,
I've been busy building the top half of the engine which I'm relieved to say is now completed!
At the end of my last update I had taken the main engine/gearbox build to the point where it just required some cabling to be added to the various exhaust system sensors. This has now been done and can be seen in some of the photos below. The 0.3mm solder wire that was used for the cabling looked a bit plain and shiny when it should in reality be braided hose. To replicate this I dragged some medium grade emery tape diagonally across the soft wire and then again at a different angle which gave quite a convincing finish, which is hard to notice with the naked eye, but gave a less shiny appearance to the wire at least!
Moving on to the top half of the engine, I have now completed the induction and ignition parts of the build along with the various electrical cables and fuel pipes. First job was to build six sensors that sit atop the fuel injectors. The first few photos below show the PE parts which were folded and then had 0.2mm wire glued into one end to represent electrical cabling. These were then fitted to the resin part from the upgrade set that incorporates all of the fuel/ignition components. This is a beautifully cast part with some nice detail. The whole assembly was then painted along with the other parts that make up the whole assembly including the induction pipes and the plenum chamber. I also painted the 'pop-off' valve that is fitted at the uppermost part of the plenum chamber. There is an 'FIA' decal that is fitted to the pop-off valve and which is included in both the kit decal sheet and my aftermarket sheet which I bought from Italy. Unfortunately, they were both slightly bigger than they should be by about 10% and the colouring is slightly incorrect (the yellow parts of the decal should be gold, not yellow and the edging should be black not blue!). I opted to use the kit decal as it was slightly more in register and just trimmed it down in size as much as I could get away with. It doesn't look too bad in the end.
There was approximately 16 tiny (near microscopic) PE parts that make up a very delicate throttle assembly which I can honestly say was right on the limit of what can physically be assembled and glued without looking a complete mess! However, I managed to achieve it in the end and it was all duly fitted to the plenum chamber which adds a very pleasing piece of detail to the overall appearance in this area and which can be seen in the photos below. The upgrade set even includes linkage parts to connect the throttle cable which will run from the throttle pedal eventually. There was also numerous tiny PE bolt heads to fit to the plenum chamber where it is bolted down to the induction system and some larger PE bolt heads that were fitted to the top of the fuel pipes unions.
The rest of the photos below show the engine/gearbox unit in it's now completed state. There are just a couple of small cables and sensors to fit once I have permanently fixed the unit to the floor pan, but that won't be done just yet. The engine assembly is now essentially finished and in my next update I will start work on the cockpit tub and it's various sub-assemblies.
