As a kid i used to build plastic kit Airfix model aeroplanes, and come November put bangers in them and chuck 'em out of the top window of the house, all good fun, then in my early teens built an Airfix kit of the Victory and again in my early twenties which my kids duly wrecked a few years after that so i haven't done any modelling for years(they're a lot older now), then i saw this advertised and thought i'll have a crack at that, so i started building and put together the ribs, decks and gunports then forgot about it for what must be nigh on ten years, so this was the stage i was at when i started building again.

Hi Gibbo.

Good to see you up and running!BigGrin
That brings back memories, a nice and clean start there (and an interesting choice of dry dock alignment!!Blink ) I didn't use the plywood hull sections on mine and planked the entire hull, using the plywood panels as templates for the gun ports. I then found that the single planking layer just didn't look thick enough through the port so I then added another layer on the inside which improved it no end. If you haven't got there yet I'd recommend planking the inside of the plywood panels and then cutting out the ports, (it'll be much easier than my 'retrospective' planking was, it was a nightmare getting in there once the decks were on!!Crying )

Looking good!

Hi karl
Is that resizing the pixels or the percentage in the resize box ?
Thanks

OK, hopefully this comes out as a picture instead of a file, some of the gunports supplied were a funny shape, narrow at the front and wider at the back so i had to pack it out a little bit with a cocktail stick until the glue dried, the instructions were a bit hazy on this, ie: glue them into the slots, after they came out twice igot the dremmel out and had to re-cut the slots make them deeper and change the angle of some but finally got there.

Hull nearly fully planked, as you can see thre is a slight twist on the bow section, not surprising as its been sitting on a window sill through winter and summer above a radiator for the last ten years

Cor! Doesn't she look different in white!Blink
Coming along really well, I'm surprised I didn't have any warping actually, she spent a few years up in the attic where it regularly topped the 100F in the summer!BigGrin

This is the original stern metal backplate that came with this kit, the instructions said just stick it on it doesn't need painting, i think it was an afterthought as the kit was being produced
