Issue 23
Your parts: Right foot servo.
Saved parts: You will be using parts from the previous issues, so be sure to have these to hand before beginning: 200 mm cable [stage 22] and the Neck stand [stage 8]
The Servo cable Take out the four screws holding the servo’s removable cover in place, and keep these safely to one side. Gently lift the cover away, taking care not to force it or damage the circuit board underneath it.
Hold the open servo by its sides, with the circuit board facing upwards.Fetch the servo cable fitted with protective pads in the previous issue, and press one of its connectors into the socket circled in red. It does not matter which end of the servo cable you use.
Pass the free end of the servo cable through the circular hole in the removable cover, as shown. Press the cover back into place on the servo’s main housing.Use the four screws removed in Step 1 to re-attach the cover. Take care not to over tighten the screws.
Testing the servo Take the neck stand and make sure the power pack is turned OFF. Carefully attach the servo cable connected to the servo in Step 3.With the servo connected,switch the power to ON. After the LEDs blink twice, only the 1 LED should light up.
To test the servo, press the TEST/SET switch: the servo’s shaft should rotate 45° to the left, stop, then move back across to 45° to the right. The next step is to set the servo’s ID number, so keep the power on. If the test does not run, refer to the HELP box on page 6 of Issue 8’s Assembly Guide.
In the coming stages,you will again be setting a servo’s ID number using the test board, so re-familiarise yourself with the board’s lights and switches which were first explained in the assembly Guide of Issue 8. These are used to set the ID numbers of the servos. Each time you press the UP switch, the ID number increases by one, and the result is displayed by the two banks of LED lights. The top row reads in tens and the bottom in units. For example, to set the ID to 21, as you will do in this stage, you press UP 21 times. This will light up the 20 LED and the 1 LED. (If you overshoot, press the DOWN switch to take it down one step at a time.) When the ID number is correct, you set it by pressing and holding the TEST/SET switch.
To set the ID number of the Right foot servo to 6, press the UP button 5 times. Confirm the setting by checking that the 6 LED is lit, using the UP and DOWN buttons to correct the number if necessary.
Confirm the setting by pressing and holding the TEST/SET button for a few seconds. The 6 light should flash, then go out.Leaving the servo connected, switch the power OFF, then back ON. Only the 1 LED should light up. To check the ID number, press TEST/SET. Now the 6 should light up. Note: It is crucial that all of Robi’s servos have the correct ID numbers, so check thoroughly that you have set the desired number.
Once all is well, switch the power pack OFF, then carefully unplug the servo from the test board. It will retain its setting, ready to fit into Robi’s right foot.

Issue 24
Your parts: Right foot cover, Right ankle side panel and Right ankle joint.
Saved parts: Wired servo [Stage 23]
Take the servo from stage 23 and remove the four screws and cover then pass the wire through the rectangular hole in the right ankle cover. Next line up the servo with the cover making sure that the cable is not pinched or bunched up below the servo. Once the servo is lined up with the cover use the four screws to join the servo and cover together.

Issue 25
Your parts: Ankle tape, Servo cable [135 mm] and Right ankle frame.
Saved parts: Servo subassembly [Stage 24] and Protective pads.
Line up the servo assembly with the hole for the servo shaft on the ankle frame making sure the notch is in the correct position and lines up with the 'D' shaped cut out. Push the parts gently together making sure that they are joined neatly without a gap and that the parts are at right angles to each other.

Issue 26
Your parts: Right ankle servo.
Saved parts: 135 mm servo cable [stage 25], Ankle tape x 1 [stage 25] and the Neck stand [stage 8].

Adding The Ankle Tape. Next take one strip of tape and peel it from its backing, then line it up with the servo attaching to the side and in line with the servo stem. Carefully wrap the tape around the servo making sure it is in line with the servo side and does not overlap the edge.

Issue 27
Your parts: Right foot sole,Right foot cover and screws.
Saved parts: You will be using parts from the previous issues, so be sure to have these to hand before beginning: Taped and wired servo, foot servo assembly and the side panel and joint.
The Foot servo Take the right sole and find the angled groove then use the long servo wire from the ankle assembly pass the wire through the groove and along the channel. Line up the ankle assembly with the screw holes in the sole and fit it in place. Once the ankle assembly is in its correct position tilt the ankle frame forward so its insides can be seen. Now take the ankle joint and place it on the ankle frame and sole making sure the screw holes are lined up. Use four M2 x 6mm screws to fix the assemble just made together.
Fitting The Ankle servo Take the servo cable on the sole assembly and pass it through the hole in the ankle joint then up through the square hole in the frame. Leave the fitting of the servo wire into its grooves until the servo has been fitted otherwise you will not have enough cable when fitting the servo. Next take the taped servo and remove its cover then put the wire from it into the round hole on the ankle frame assembly then fix the wire from the sole assembly to the spare connector on the servo. Lower the servo into its housing making sure you dont catch or pinch any wires. When it is in position fix it in place using the four long servo screws, now you can run the servo cable along its channels for it final positioning in the assembly.
Fitting The Foot cover Line up the foot cover with the sole making sure no cables are caught or pinched by the part, once it is in position use three M2 x 7mm countersunk screws. Next take the foot assembly and add the side cove to the ankle assembly then fix it in place using two M2 x 6mm countersunk screws.

Issue 28.
Your parts: Outer lower leg,Lower leg frame,70mm Servo cable and Screws.
Saved parts: You will be using parts from the previous issues, so be sure to have these to hand before beginning: Right foot assembly.
The Lower leg frame Take the lower leg frame and its cover and press the parts together once the parts are fully seated use two M2 x 6mm countersunk screws to fix the parts together. Next take the right foot assembly and line the 'D' hole on its lower part with the ankle servo, make sure it is in its correct position and gently push home. You can add a protector to the servo cable here or wait until the cable is fitted.

Issue 29.
Your parts: Servo motor.
Saved parts: You will be using parts from the previous issues, so be sure to have these to hand before beginning: 70mm Servo motor and Head stand.
The Servo and cable Remove the cover from the servo and add the 70mm cable and add a pad if not already added then replace the cover on the servo as you have done before.
Testing the servo Take the neck stand and make sure the power pack is turned OFF. Carefully attach the servo cable connected to the servo in Step 3.With the servo connected,switch the power to ON. After the LEDs blink twice, only the 1 LED should light up.

Issue 30.
Your parts: Right inner lower leg, Right Knee frame, 70mm Servo cable and Screws.
Saved parts: You will be using parts from the previous issues, so be sure to have these to hand before beginning: Right foot assembly and the Servo with cable.
Fitting the inner Leg panel Place the right foot assembly on your work stand with the cable pointing towards you, now take the inner lower leg panel and with the pointed end facing down take the cable and pass it through the lower hole and then through the upper hole in the part. Next take the knee frame and pass the cable through the round hole, lay the assembly so far flat on the table without moving the servo cable.
Fitting The Servo Now prepare servo ID=4 by removing the cover and attach it to the Right foot assembly cable you just prepared and pass the 70mm cable through the rectangular hole in the knee frame. Push the servo into position without catching or pinching the cables and fix in place with the four long screws.
Fitting the Knee frame Take the knee frame and place the servo shaft into the upper 'D' hole in the ankle frame, It should fit easily when the parts are correctly lined up.
The Inner lower leg Take the inner lower leg panel and match the two round holes on its rear face with the two round holes in the lower leg assembly. When the inner panel is fitted hold it together and gently push the knee forward exposing the two screw holes. Use two M2 x 7mm countersunk screws to fix the parts in place.
