Stage 55 – The windscreen and rear view mirror
Contains parts –

Double-sided tape
Rear view mirror
Remove the circular backing from the centre of the double-sided tape.
Align the circular end of the rear view mirror’s stem with the circle in the centre of the double-sided tape, press the double-sided tape against the rear view mirror, centring the double-sided tape on the end of the mirror stem.
Peel the backing away from the mirror, leaving the circle of adhesive tape on the mirror stem. Press the mirror into place against the black circle on the inside of the screen. The curved part of the mirror stem should face the bottom (wider) long edge of the screen.
Adjust the position of the mirror to angle it as it would be in the real car, which was right-hand-drive. Store the screen in a plastic bag until it’s needed again.
Stage complete.

Stage 56 – The service hatches

Service hatches × 2
Service hatch hinges × 2
Test the operation of the service hatch hinges by opening and closing them.
Align the holes of one of the hinges with the matching pins on the inside of one of the service hatches and push the hinge into place.
Check for a gap between the hinge and the hatch. If there is one, it may be due to a build-up of paint on the hatch, so carefully file it away until the hinge will fit flush with the hatch.
When the hinge is fitting flush with the hatch, secure it
temporarily with masking tape. Repeat the above steps for the second hinge and hatch.

Stage 57 – The air inlet and outlet

The left wiper, the right wiper and the badges are not used in this stage, so don't remove them from their bags.
On the real car, the function of the air inlet is to supply fresh air to the engine. To begin assembly of your model’s air inlet, align the pins of the louvres with the holes in the base then push the parts together.
On the real car, the function of the air outlet is to remove hot air from the engine compartment.
Align the pins of your model’s air outlet louvres with the holes in the air outlet base, Insert the pins of the louvres into the holes in the base and push the parts together.
Stage complete.

Stage 58 – The Headlights

Place two type HH screws into the holes in the front assembly (Stage 53) and tighten.
Insert two type P screws into the holes in the headlights (Stage 54)
and tighten.
Align the post of the retractable casing left (Stage 54) with the type P screw in the left headlight. Push the post over the screw, and then align the screw hole of the retractable casing with the corresponding hole in the mounting bar and secure with a type O screw. Repeat for the right hand side.
Place the body upside-down on a soft cloth or towel to avoid scratches.
Use the tip of a needle file to remove any burrs from the grille. Place the tip into each hole and slowly but firmly move it from one side to the other to scrape away the burrs.
Use the file to remove any burrs in the rectangular holes that the service hatches (Stage 56) will fit into. When you’ve removed the burrs, take one of the service hatches and slide the hinge into the slot in the body.
The service hatch hinge should slide easily into the slot. If it gets stuck, check the slot for burrs and file off any you find.
Check the ends of the posts for any burrs or casting flash remaining on them, and remove with the file.
Remove any burrs from the two U-shaped brackets, then slot the headlight mounting bar into them.
Hold the mounting bar in place in the brackets, flip the body over and check the fit of the left and right headlight covers in the body. If there is an excess of paint on the mounting bar, then the headlight covers may not fit properly into the body and you will need to file
off the excess paint.
Apply masking tape to the headlight cover at the end(s) of the mounting bar that you need to file. Remove the paint from the areas on the bar, as required.
Test-fit the headlight mounting bar back into position. If the headlight covers now fit properly, then you can continue to the next stage. If not, keep filing the bar until they do so.
Stage complete.

Stage 59 – The windscreen and the doors

Before fitting the windscreen (Stage 55), locate the mounting points in the two lower corners.
Holding the windscreen with both hands, align its top edge with the front of the roof.
Hook the top of the windscreen into the underside of the front of the roof, hold the top of the windscreen in position and push the two lower corners into place in the body.
At this point, the corners and the top of the screen should be in place, but the bottom edge will still be out of position.
Hold the top corners in place and push the bottom edge into position, working from the outside in.
Align the pin at the end of the left wiper (Stage 57) with the hole in the body and push into place, fit the right wiper the same way.
Push the air inlet into place, from above, until it is flush with the
surrounding bodywork, fit the air outlet (Stage 57) in the same way as the air inlet.
Take the side badge (Stage 57) and align the pin on its back with the hole in the middle of the triangular recess in the side of the body, push into place then fit the second badge to the other side.
Take the right front bumper (Stage 52) and align the projecting tab with the corresponding slot in the front righthand corner of the body and push into place. Fit the left side bumper the same way.
Turn the body over and insert the hinge of the right door (Stage 45) into position, align the hole in the hinge with the hole in the body and tighten a type EE screw (Stage 58) into the aligned holes to secure the door.
Repeat for the left side door.
After fitting the left and right doors, check that they open and close. If the hinges aren't secured properly, they will become loose, so make sure the two screws holding them in place are adequately tightened.
Stage complete.

Stage 60 – The roof liner
Contains parts –
Front underbody
Right front indicator
Left front indicator
Coil spring
Headlight lift rod
Headlight lift rod base
Take the right visor and align the pins with the corresponding holes in the roof liner, push into place and repeat for the left side visor.
Fit the lamp into place by pushing the two pins into the holes in the centre of the roof liner.
Next, prepare the left and right pillars (Stage 59) and place them next to the roof liner.
Take the left pillar and align the hole at the end of it with the post on the left side of the roof liner. Fit the end of the pillar onto the post and repeat for the right hand side.
Retrofitting replacement parts
The replacement parts supplied with Stages 58 and 59 are improved versions of the parts they are replacing.
Take the battery assembly (Stage 16) and the two replacement battery cables (Stage 59).
Remove the two battery cables that you fitted in Stage 16. When you take them off, put them to one side to avoid confusing them with their replacements.
Fit the two new cables into the two holes in the top of the battery. The battery retrofit with the improved parts is now complete.
Now remove the dashboard plate and the left air vent from the dashboard assembly (Stage 51). If the screws get damaged during the retrofit, you can use the replacements from Stage 58.
Using two type BB screws, fit the replacement dashboard plate (Stage 58) onto the back of the dashboard. See stage 51 for more detailed installation instructions.
Fit the replacement left air vent (Stage 58), using a type II screw. See stage 51 for more detailed installation. The retrofit of the dashboard is now complete. While there are no visible differences, the way that the dash fits into the body has now improved.

Stage 61 – The service hatches and tailgate
Contains parts –
Front valance
Right screw hole cover

Type KK screws × 3
Type E screws × 4
Type H screws × 5
Type LL screws × 5
Type JJ screws × 8
Prepare the temporarily assembled service hatches (Stage 56). Remove the masking tape from one of the service hatches, hold the hinge in place then secure with a type JJ screw.
Check that the hinge is securely fixed to the hatch, without any movement side to side, repeat for the other service hatch.
Align, then push the end of the hinge into the slot in the body, turn the body over and align the holes of the hinge with those in the body. Close the service hatch and secure in place with two type JJ screws. Repeat for the other service hatch.
Once the hatches are fitted, test them. First, pull the top of one hatch out, slide the bottom of the hatch outwards and then pull the top of the hatch down to open it fully. Check both hatches, and then close them.
Prepare the tailgate (Stage 50).
Position the body the correct way up. Insert the right hinge of the tailgate into the hole in the body followed by the left hinge. Once both hinges are in place, lift up the front edge of the tailgate, locking
the hinges into place. Close the tailgate to check the fit with the
body - it should be flush with the surrounding parts.
Prepare the tailgate hinge cover (Stage 59) and hold it over the tailgate hinges, align the holes in the hinge cover with the holes in the body, next to the hinges. Push into place and secure with two type KK screws.
Now you will need the roof liner (Stage 60). Hold the liner in over the body and slide into place. Secure with four type LL screws tightened in a diagonal pattern.
Turn the body over, and open and close the tailgate to check it.
Stage complete.

Stage 62 – The front valance
Contains parts –
Left quarterlight
Right quarterlight
Left rear reflector mount

Take the front underbody (Stage 60), and insert the short side of the
headlight lift rod into the cylinder in the middle of the plate, the longer section of the rod should project from the hole.
Fit the coil spring (Stage 60) over the end of the rod and push down inside the cylinder.
Hold the headlight lift rod base (Stage 60) over the centre of the front underbody, aligning the holes of the base with those on the underbody. Place the base onto the underbody, positioning the central hole over the end of the rod and aligning the holes at either side and secure with two type H screws.
Align the holes of the front valance (Stage 61) with those in the front
underbody assembly. Place the plate onto the cowl, keeping the holes aligned and secure with a type P screw at each end.
Align the posts of the front valance plate (Stage 61) with the holes in the front valance then Fit the plate into place on the valance. Turn the assembly over and secure with three type E screws.
Hold the front left indicator (Stage 60), over the holes on the lefthand side of the front valance.
Push the two posts of the front left indicator into the corresponding holes in the valance. Then repeat for the right side indicator.
Now you will need the left and right rear reflector mounts and the two rear reflectors. Take one of the reflectors, and align the pin on the rear of it with the hole in one of the reflector mounts, press the reflector into place and then repeat for the other reflector and mount.
Push the reflector assemblies into place on both sides of the body.
Place the antenna into the recess on the rear of the body, hold in place and secure with a type H screw from the underside.
Fit the shaped underside of the fuel cap with the corresponding
recess in the left-hand rear corner of the body, then secure from underneath with a type H screw.
Align the pins of the left and right quarterlight with the corresponding holes in the sides of the body and push them into place.
Stage Complete
