So this is my first attempt at making a model. I am a big Star Wars fan, so when I saw the Falcon model, I knew I had to take the challenge. I am wanting to make it look like the films, so I have a lot to learn about painting, weathering, etc. I will take my time, as this isn't a model to rush on! I just hope I can do as good as some of you guys on here. I have already completed my cockpit following Modelmakingguru on youtube. It was pretty easy following his instructions. Problem is, there are no more step by step videos for painting the rest of it, like the cargo hold for example! Will just have to do it on my own! Hopefully I can get enough information from here to paint and weather the way I want it to look!

Looking good so far. I'm sure you'll find plenty of tips here on the forum. The great thing about this project is no two falcons are the same. Keep posting.ThumpUp

G'day Vader1979 , congrats on your work so far , and also on taking up what can be a very rewarding hobby/pastime/passion . Wholeheartedly agree with Mark ( check his thread - full of great tips/ideas ) . Other builders threads I'd recommend are @Darkview and Ian Lawrence , they're terrific when it comes to different painting/finishes . They've gone down different methods of painting , but both are brilliant .
Cheers , Ged .

Looking good so far Vader and really nice job weathering the cockpit. Cool

With your pictures, if you resize them to 640 x 480 then they will appear in your post as pictures on screen rather than attachments that people have to click on to view.

Lookng forward to seeing more

Hi Vader,

This is in response to a post you made on my build diary... here is my method for installing the fibers, it is really quite easy. I cut them to length then recolor them using sharpie pens to the color I want them to be, usually only need to color a couple of inches and the very end. I use a soldering iron to heat up one end but do not touch the fiber to the iron tip. The end of the fiber should melt forming a small mushroom on the end. Insert the non-mushroom end through the hole the mushroom will prevent the fiber from pulling through. I apply glue to the back side to keep the fibers from pulling/pushing back out careful as any heat will melt the fibers. I use 5 minute epoxy to glue mine in place. Best of luck
