Hi All, So this is the start of my entry to the "Historic F1 competition build". The build I`m going to attempt is the Tamiya - Brabham BT50 BMW Turbo. Brabham who were F1 champions in 1981 joined forces with BMW in 1982 to test out the new turbocharged engine. The cheif designer of Brabham Mr Gordon Murray was set the task of designing the chassis to fit around the new engine and a light and very fast race car was the result. In only its fifth race this combination of engine and chassis won the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. Now, me and F1 are as close as the earth and moon so its out of the box with minimal enhancements to the vehicle. Items in hand: Pic 1 - The car kit Pic 2 - The upgrade. Not sure what all the bits are yet. Pic 3 - Needed something to stand it on. No base yet but got the tarmac. Pic 4 - A scale matched crew. Yet to sort which will be used. Will make a start soon, got most paints in my collection and everything else ready. A nice kit Derek with some nice extras. That bag of tarmac looks an interesting product and I was thinking of doing a simple base with a tarmac surface for my own entry so I'll be interested to see what you do with that? If you aren't sure what all of the bits are for in your PE set Derek then just ask, we may be able to help work it out for you?
Good luck in the competition mate, looking forward to following your build with interest.

Thanks for the interest everyone. Have opened the boxes and seen what I have to work with and it looks good. A few pieces are off the fret but everything is there, only thing that may be an issue is the decals that are showing their age. Just have to see how they go when it comes to using them. Here`s the pics of the contents. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Thanks for looking in all and the good news is I`m off and running. Well call it a slow crawl. I`ve built the main base parts of the engine, part of the gear box according to stage 4 of the instructions but the Oil tank in stage 6.(Told you I know nothing about F1) and two bits which make up the Air chamber - bit of detail painting required on this bit. Constructed bits so far have been primed ready to strain the old peepers in the next stage of painting. More soon, hopefully Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

A nice subject and a great start Derek. I think you'll do alright with this even though it's not your genre, so well done you for taking part and good luck in the competition!
I agree with what Tom says too, nice to see something that isn't DFV powered!
