THE HULL Hi Team the Hull - Bow and - Stern have been shaped Now I am going to fit Balsa fillets to the Hull, I want to make sure I get the best shape possible and good fitting planks. This Kit I believe is one of the best models available, and it requires my best efforts, so preperation will be the key word I have used up most of my offcuts on the Bow and at the Stern,---Have a look see what you think :- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Hi Ger thank you for your kind comments I purchase from a local source when I need it but you can buy Balsa from Hobbycraft, but it tends to be a little more expensive. I hope that helps Regards Mike MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Hi Mike following your other builds and you have only balsa'd last frames at bow and stern Any particular reason you have chosen to balsa between all the frames on this model?

Hi Budgie, thanks for your question The Victory had Bow and Stern, plus all along the base of the Hull(Keel outwards)Because of the gun ports I did not do the sides. The endeavor I again did Bow and stern, and base of the Hull, not the sides because the sides were very square and she has a centre Deck (see Photo). The San Fran ll I just did Bow and stern to give support to the formed planking. Plus the ship is not very long (all though its the same scale as the Victory and the Cutty Sark) The reason for the all over treatment to the Cutty Sark is simply I want to bring out its beautiful flowing lines and give strong fixing points to the the Mahogony planking, and there are no centre decks to navigate and to give me any problem. Oh, I almost forgot I also did the all over treatment to the Endeavour Longboat (see photos)I do hope that answers all your question Regards Mike MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.
