Hello all,
My 1:9 resin figure arrived yesterday and my paint sets have arrived this morning, so I'm all ready to go!!
As always with any of Mitches' figure kits the parts are well packed in sealable bags with bubble wrap and a nice sturdy box with a picture of the finished and primed figure on the front. The individual parts are well cast with some very nice detail, just needing a wash in warm soapy water and some clean up of seams and removal of the casting plugs. The photos below will show the contents and all of that lovely detail. I think I may have been given an extra shovel blade(covered) as I have two in my pack and only one shovel handle, the carrying of just one shovel is correct. Also, the .30cal barrel looks to be a bit warped but that should straighten out with a bit of hot water and gentle bending. I have included a photo of the main body parts with a ruler so that you can see just how big these 200mm figures look - there's plenty of room to work on that detail painting when you get to it, that's for sure! I will be displaying this figure on a small base when finished with some simple groundwork included.
The paints that I have chosen are the US Army WWII Uniforms Set 1 (Class 'A' Uniforms) and Set 2 (Combat Gear) with six 22ml pots per set. Both are acrylic paint sets and are produced by 'Lifecolor'. I'm not the biggest fan of Lifecolor paints though they're not the worst, but I know that their paints are always very accurate in their colour so I've decided to use them for this build. I will mainly be relying on set 2 'Combat Gear' but thought it would be useful to have the option of several other colours from set 1 if needed. Most of my painting will be done using these and some artist's acrylic paints along with some Winsor & Newton 'Alkyd' fast drying oils and also some metallic paints from various manufacturers.
So, first job is to give the parts a bath and then set about the clean up, prepping and priming process, which I'll probably start this weekend.
Thanks for looking, all comments and criticisms welcomed.
