Not having done much modelling over the last few months due to ageing parents health and some new shift patterns at work, I thought I would get back in to it and get the Samba parts put together. The kit goes together well and is starting to turn into a big old bus, excuse the pun. the first few pics show the results from packs 1-6. Pack 8 Having received this pack 5 weeks ago I rang c/s yesterday and they kindly sent me the pdf for this pack.In this pack we add some more chassis parts which give the central section some strength and build up the front suspension, to which the front wheels and steering mechanisms are added. The speaker circuit board and battery box are fitted and the first wires are connected up.Finally one of the side doors is completed which gives you an idea of how tall this going to be. That's really starting to turn into a substantial beast. Quite comical though, at how TINY the engine is for such a vehicle. Looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Nice one Al, I’m also on pack 8 and pleased that there are opening side windows both sides, not shown in Modelspace preview. It will be a good size model when completed. Andy.

Al Thats all looking very nice. Its a "strange" looking vehicle but they were so popular and still are so i am told. Remember my cousin had one of these (or a variant of - me and motors :-( not a clue :-) ) Beaten up old thing as I remember with one of those push up material roofs. He was going to do wonders withit but not sure he ever progressed very far with it. I sent him the details of this kit as i have a feeling it might be something he would be interested in as he was a great plastic kit modeller in his earlier days, so modelling is in his blood. Hope yours continues to go well. Tony Happy Modelling

Pack 9 This pack arrived in a somewhat larger box than normal, as you can see in the pics it had some larger parts enclosed. Firstly the side door was finished along the same lines as the previous one apart from the spring loaded locking mechanism. Then we move onto the front of the van and after fixing the top and bottom front panels together and its trim piece, the front lights were fitted and also the indicators. The spring loaded wipers were fitted and then the dashboard was fitted with its switches, ashtray, clock and gauges. Now the left and right side frames were added along with the door hinges, before the right side frame was added giving it an idea of the size its going to be. Finally I couldn't resist temporary fitting a few sub assemblies together to get a look at its progress, roll on pack 10. Al Spal attached the following image(s):
