Finally my prayers have been answered. Love Love Love I know I'm on the Model Space site, but IXO Collections now has the 1/8 Porsche 917 available: https://www.ixocollectio...com/en/15-porsche-917kh They are located in France. I found out from them that if you have at least a 99 Euro purchase, your shipping is free. So if you order 2 boxes (49.99 Euros each) at a time, your total gives you free shipping which is great for delivery to the USA. And don't make my mistake. Make sure you order Box 1 which has Kits 1, 2, 3 and 4. They have another Box 1 which only has Kits 2, 3 and 4 in it (don't know why). And they ship fast. I ordered Boxes 1, 2 and 3 on July 21st and they arrived on July 27th, a week later! Today I put together Kits 2 and 3 and like it so far. Screws labeled AM are for metal installation and CP for plastic. You can match up a lot of the parts with what's in the plastic containers as the parts have numbers to match up with the pictures. I would still advise using taps on the metal parts that need to have the corresponding screws put into them. David in Avon, Indiana USA

Hi David,
Thanks for posting this. I saw when the 917 became available but thought it would be too expensive to have shipped over here, Texas for me. I'm guessing you did not have any trouble placing your order, any tips?
Thanks, wyatt

Then I'll order the 2 and shipping will be free. Now I'm building the model and some advice. Make sure you have some pin vices, small number drill bits and small metric taps. There seem to be a lot of metal parts and they look to be aluminum. When I was building the 1/8 LaFerrari, I got into a lot of trouble trying to screw into metal without tapping the hole first. I snapped off the head of a screw and thankfully I was able to work around my mistake. I would definitely suggest having 2, 2.3 and 2.6 mm taps of various pitches. And have both styles of taps. Regular and bottoming taps. Remember, you're working with screws with diameters of 0.067, 0.079, 0.090 and 0.102 inches. So easy to snap off a head or strip out the Phillips head. Here's a couple of pictures of what I'm using. David

Using taps is a must. I have both metric and SAE sets. The bottoming taps are very useful. I try to replace the phillips screws whenever I can with stainless steel or aluminum bolts down to 1mm. You may have found these reference sources already but here are a few with some pretty good pics. https://www.pelicanparts...auction/engine_info.htm
This next one is probably the best for engine pics: https://www.pelicanparts...n/917-1/large/ulthm.htm https://www.motor1.com/n...he-917-flat-12-rebuild/

This is a French model building forum discussing the IXO Collections 917K. Pretty interesting with the usual debates on what color this or that was/is: https://forum-auto.carad...ctions/page/4/#comments
I'll be following your build if you post it here.

I've made it through Box 1 (kits 2, 3 and 4), Box 2 (kits 5, 6, 7 and 8) and in Box 3 I've made it up to kits 9 and 10. Need to take a break before I tackle kits 11 and 12. They are shipping me kit 1 that was missing in Box 1. Some construction tips I've learned so far. Definitely have pin vises, drills between 0.055 (number 54) to 0.1015 (number 38) and various metric taps. So far I've found out that drilling out the holes in metal for the screws works pretty good so far. I use my calipers to find out the diameter of the screw threads, find the drill about 0.004 to 0.006 thousandths smaller and clean out the hole. The plastic screws, so far, don't need any clearances. If you decide to get this kit, check the screws labeled BM in box 1. Some were measuring 0. 083 thousandths in diameter and later BM screws in boxes 2 and 3 were measuring 0.077 thousandths in diameter. Might not seem like much, but I had some difficulty with the larger diameter BM screws. Here are some pictures of my progress so far. David
