Stupid question coming... Does the line for the first fore mast backstay (A) run up the outside of the shrouds to the rear of the crosstree and then get tied on thee top of the fore topmast, or does it run behind the shrouds and up through the hole in the fore top first before being taken up to the rear of the cross tree? The online video guide doesn't show this, neither do the photos in the book. This is stage 102 by the way Once I know this I reckon I can figure out how to rig the rest.

Hi Betty! Just checked the rigging diagrams in the big Alan McGowan book and all of the backstays run direct from the blocks on the channels straight up to the mast so they all run outside of the shrouds. The same applies to the mainmast and mizzen too. Okay, thanks. I will give it a go. The diagram in the booklets is really not that clear, especially where pink has been used to try and show the path of the backstay.
Thank you very much for your help!
