Ok, I'm potty... Another half-built glue bomb. Tamiya Lola but I'm going to rebuild it as a Team Gunston car after building the Lotus 72 in Gunston colours. It isn't quite the correct car, but near enough. On we go. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Right - let the destruction begin. The main body had to be sawn apart from the floor due to the amount of glue, as can be seen in the picture showing the inside of the body and doors. The body parts were then also broken or cut apart. A LOT of cleaning up will be needed with all these parts. I managed to get all the rear suspension parts off, as well as anything on the interior. However, the front suspension has also been fixed very permanently in place so I've decided to leave well alone there as eventually it will be mainly silver or grey anyway. Once the floor part was cleaned up it was primed in grey, then some areas in white. Then the doorsteps and sills were sprayed orange. Talk about gluttons and punishment Roy!  Another masterpiece on the way!  I meant to ask you a while back, I assume the white lettering decals you design are printed on to white decal paper, but how do you get the surrounding colour to exactly match your painted body work? I tried to do this on my Messines WW1 diorama some years back to get white numbers for the MkVI tanks but could never get the shade of green to match! Will be watching this one with great interest! Hello Robin. To get my b/g colours to match the paint I print a 1" square in a colour that seems close and then compare it to the paint. I make a note of the RGB numbers of the colour. Then, I copy/paste the square next to first one which is then deleted. Go to the colour properties of the 2nd square and adjust the RGB as I see it. It can take many tries but eventually it gets there, or pretty close. And yes, glutton and punishment are sitting side by side on my bench...

Where do you find these kits that have been completely glued up. Another one that will be a masterpiece. I’ll be watching your progress as usual. As it’s been said you are a glutton for punishment but you always get it right. Andy.

Many thanks for looking in and the kind comments chaps. I must admit I enjoy trying to rescue terrible wreck models with the hope of eventually giving them a 'finish' that they deserve. So far here, I've cleaned up and repainted literally everything - actually, 'painted' is more correct as everything was just bare plastic to start with. At the front I've added rad pipes, brake and clutch lines and flexible hoses to the calipers. None of this was part of the original kit. Decals drawn up and now printed. That was the best part of a day on its own. Along we go...  roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Ok, the doors. The side windows were utterly shot. Covered in glue smudges and very badly crazed. I tried careful cleaning using T Cut, but the window disintegrated. Out came the old trusty clear plastic drinks bottle from the recycling bin. The curve in a large 2 litre bottle was just right so a new window was cut and glued in place. The split-window effect was made by drawing a fine black line on the panel using a permanent marker. I've placed various parts to see how it is all going. Another update for anyone looking in. I've made a start on the engine and so far, no problems. Luckily this was a part of the kit not previously touched so I can only hope there are no missing parts. The rear suspension parts and wheels have been attended to as they were all horribly glued together and had to be broken apart, cleaned up and repaired so let's hope there aren't too many problems with the rest of those parts. Paint now sorted on the rest of the body. Nothing attached anywhere as yet - just testing the fit etc. roymattblack attached the following image(s):
