Andy, Derek, thanks for looking in and for the kind comments, appreciated as always.. Cool Cool .. Did think about using powders for the buckets but thought it could turn out quite messy if the powder accidently got blown around, thought I'd try using the tissue and paint method and thought it gave a great textured look to the overall finish.... Cool Cool .. You're right Derek, love this forum for the way different ideas are shared to get the same results....Cool Cool .. Now to continue with issue 122, will hopefully be posting again soon..

Regards

Alan

A very lovely model you have there and the various paint finishes look top notch.

I can see lots of patience and care being taken as you do not have a great deal of room to manouver around those deck areas with so many different parts now in place.

Happy Modelling

BUILDING: Hachette Spitfire Mk 1A, Constructo Mayflower
SUBSCRIPTION COMPLETE (Awaiting building): USS Constitution, Sovereign of the Seas, 1:200 Bismarck (Hachette)
COMPLETED: Porsche 911, E-Type Jaguar, Lam Countach

Hi Alan!

Beautiful work on those buckets and the cannonball 'lockers' too, that tissue and PVA really works a treat and the rope handles are far more in keeping with the era of the SOTS.Cool
Just shows how the Navy organisation was evolving between the Sovereign and the Victory - Victory's powder charges brought up from protected magazines in ready to use 'cartridges', Sovereign's laying all around the decks in unprotected open buckets! Even old Sammy Pepys must have been bringing 'elf and safety' into the Service!BigGrin
Lovely job M8 and really coming together now!Cool

Hi all, thought it was time to give another short update... Have had to slow down somewhat due to other commitments on my time but happy to say at least we are still moving forward...Cool Cool .. Issue 122 started out with my fitting the bowspit in place. Need to be careful around her now this is in place, been a couple of times so far I have come very close to snapping the mast at the tip, simply by brushing against it....Blink Blink Then moved on doing the catharping round the bowspit, quite a straight forward task really, applying 12 wrappings for each..Cool Cool .. Next task was to fit the bowspit shrouds, this task was fairly tricky in ensuring the lengths were correct and that they had the correct tension. Finished this part by tying in the ratlines, more knots..... this took a lot longer than it should have....Blink Blink.. Lastly, fitted the shrouds and futtock shrouds to the mast at the tip of the bowspit and finally finishing with tying in yet more ratlines...Cool Cool .. Next task on the agenda is now to start tying in the stays, there are quite a few to do so until then, happy modelling.....Cool Cool

Regards

Alan
