Hi All Just a couple of pics of the completed [well undercoated still waiting for paint to arrive] smoke box. Looking good Andy, though try and keep paint off the rear boiler mount flange, as the next boiler ring is a tight fit without paint.

Hi Alan I know how you feel about trying to resist new models it can be hard, she certainly will be a talking point as there is a sound box that will have an original d51 engine recording on it and the drive train is moved by an electric motor so sound and movement bonusssssssssssssssss  regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy Thanks for the comments much appreciated, yes I have painted the inside of the smoke box area because there should be a plate at the rear of this area that will have the boiler pipes from the fire box area. So the area here will be smoke and ash blackened. Hi All Finally got the paint I sent for and have painted up the parts to see how it looks. The paint has a purpleish black look that in my opinion just about recreates the look of many weathered loco's I have seen and im quite happy with the results regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

That looks nice Andy and I agree about the colour, it has that nice faded/oily black appearance that you see on old steam locomotives? A few stain marks down the side of the boiler and that will look very realistic indeed!!
Looking good so far mate!!
